Kev-Mo
Nice to see a strong Ford presence at the 2017 Tour de France - one of the World's largest sporting spectacles. Juggernaut Team Sky - who is always at the front of the pack has a contract with Ford through 2019 - good product placement with the defending champs. French Team AG2r sporting new Ford Mondeo wagons this year - and they are riding well so the team car getting a lot of camera time.

akirby
It's not nearly as exciting since the dopers retired. I mean, if they were all doping doesn't that make it a fair competition (among the dopers at least).

And it looks like EPO offered no real gains. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/science/2017/06/29/lance-armstrongs-drug-choice-epo-doesnt-work-scientists-claim/
Kev-Mo
It is very exciting - if you DVR the 3 hours then skip to the 30 minutes of the race that matters. High speed crashes, photo finishes etc. I get it though, cycling not exactly the NFL or NBA here in the USA. No matter how you look at it though, these guys are freakishly tough. akirby
My wife was really into it during the Lance era and she liked watching the countryside and scenery during the boring parts. I like the downhill rides and seeing if the breakaway can stay in front but to me it's like baseball - way too boring to watch for 3 hours. Kev-Mo
Love it or hate it - it is undeniably one of the world's greatest annual sports spectacles and viewed by millions. Good to see the strong Ford presence - aligned with the top teams and getting lots of camera time. I think Ford is way behind Toyota and Subaru in appealing to the weekend warrior; cyclists and runners, hikers, climbers, kayakers, skiers, etc, the kind of folks who drive around with all those over-priced racks on their vehicles for outdoor toys. Ranger and Bronco should help this - but it will take a long time to change perceptions. Living and playing in Colorado, I know there is still a large group of skiers that automatically associate Subaru with skiing because of the primary sponsorship of the US Ski Team three decades ago. They are still getting returns from the 1980's marketing. Edited July 11, 2017 by Kev-Mo
Kev-Mo
My wife was really into it during the Lance era and she liked watching the countryside and scenery during the boring parts. Subaru noted that and contracted as the Team Car for Lance's US Postal Team back in early to middle '00 decade. Subaru is a top choice for recreational cyclists still in 2017. I know this, I try to park at the crowded Colorado trailheads. Edited July 11, 2017 by Kev-Mo
Kev-Mo
Not so much about the TDF itself, as Ford's marketing efforts that may take10 years to really pay off - I am glad to see this. Edited July 11, 2017 by Kev-Mo
