Next Gen Escape / Escape Energi Mule spotted

Recommended Posts

Glad they are making it longer. The current back seat is far too cramped for car seats or even normal sized adults. Now if only they fix the front console width. Eats up too much of the leg space there as well.

I'm going to assume it going to use a variation of the the new Ecosport/Fiesta/Focus dash looks with tablet on the dash look. That should help make the center stack narrower. I know my wife's 2017 doesn't seem to have as much width in the passenger seat as the 2010 she had. Never had an issue with the back seat when I've been in it or my parents.

Don't have a big problem with the back seat either but more space would be better. Front leg room is what really needs to be improved. We found the seating position to be a little too high, especially the passenger seat on our 2014 Titanium (which was manual).

Ford at one point said has regular hybrids were dead, was going to be plug in or nothing.

Well, other manufacturers continue to expand their hybrid offerings, and in this segment too (Toyota with the Rav-4 hybrid for example). Regardless, it'd be a mistake to leave Escape out of whatever path they take regarding hybridization or electrification in order to artificially prop up Model E like they did with C-Max.

I agree RMC, but it's possible that the Escape offers the same/similar "architecture" (not the same platform) as the Model E. Model E technology doesn't have to be exclusive to a single platform.

That's all I'm saying should happen. Escape shouldn't be limited/left out of this technology just because of Model E. If Model E is like a Leaf or Bolt, so be it. But Escape needs access to the same technology, especially if Model E is a different form factor than Escape, such as those two competitors.

Consider this.

If Escape grows slightly to stay aligned with new Equinox and adds a PHEV

then that will leave a nice gap below it for a small C Utility - maybe Model E?

and then there's room for Ecosport below Model E.

Works for me.

Ford's own press release back in January said "An all-new fully electric small SUV, coming by 2020, engineered to deliver an estimated range of at least 300 miles, to be built at the Flat Rock plant and sold in North America, Europe and Asia"
