Potential 2019 Ranger Raptor spotted testing

Recommended Posts

While I have always loved the Raptor it was just too much truck for the city,(even though there is one parked right down the street). If this holds true to form, the ranger raptor would be a good candidate to replace the escape on the next go around.

In keeping with the prehistoric animal naming convention, how about calling it Ranger Sabertooth?

Ranger Rex?

Guess that sounds like Ranger Wrecks. T-Rex didn't seem to flow well, though in branding they'd call it "Ford T-Rex" like they do with Raptor.

If they ever did a Super Duty, it could be the Mammoth haha.

Hennessey already uses the name VelociRaptor on their modified F-150 Raptor:

Wasn't there some speculation that "Raptor" would become its own brand for high performance off-road vehicles, kind of like the old SVT group? If that happens then they could use the name on the F-150, Ranger, Bronco, etc.

I would guess this would probably get the Lincoln 3.0L TT. I would also expect a Diesel for World markets too.

The 2.7 EB would be more than good enough for me, especially once they add port injection on the 2018 version as planned in the F-150. As it is, the 1st gen 2.7 has similar output to the old 5.4L 3V which used to be the top-of-the-line in the F-150.

I would also be happy with that engine in an FX4 model of the Ranger. Not sure I would need or want all the extra cost stuff that would probably come with a true Raptor version, assuming it would be equipped similar to an F-150 Raptor. A Raptor version would probably have a lower tow rating as well which is something I would have to take into consideration. I would also be surprised if a Raptor version is available in the first year of production.

Be interesting to see where this raptor lite rig ends up..my biggest bitch with raptor is its not much of a trail runner and more orientated to desert which is its purposes...i would like to see ford expand the lil raptor into more tradtional yoda off road venues and not just limit its capabilities to desert running...
