Logano / Keselowski Finish 1, 2 at Richmond

Keselowski definitely had the best car but got held up on the last restart. Had he been able to clear traffic sooner he probably would have had his third win of the season. As it was Logano had a better restart and had a full strait lead before Keselowski broke free. Logano only won by about two car lengths. Coolest part was he actually drifted the car sideways across the finish line. Stenhouse used pit strategy to get track position near the end and was able to hold off Harvick for 4th place. And that was after hitting the outside wall early in the race. As mentioned an awesome day for Ford with six cars in the top ten and ten in the top twenty including both Roush-Fenway cars and all four Stewart-Haas cars.

One thing never mentioned was the Joe Gibbs Team's million dollar investment on faster high speed impacts that allows them an advantage over the other teams. Notice how Hamlin was consistently faster in the pits. However, post race inspection found him with a lose nut which NASCAR will rule the penalty today. I think all teams should use the same lug impacts thus keeping competition fair and balanced.

I disagree, if you want a competitive advantage, figure one out. I thought the whole point of racing was to build a better vehicle, and find competitive advantages over your competition. If you want balance then dump all the different brands and build one type of vehicle for all racers to use.

That's been talked about since 2014. I doubt JGR is the only team with faster air guns at this point in time.

That's been talked about since 2014. I doubt JGR is the only team with faster air guns at this point in time.

Early last season, after complaints to NASCAR from Kevin Harvick/Stewart Haas Racing about the pit stop advantage (1-2 seconds)the JGR drivers were getting with their dominant air gun, NASCAR responded : While the NASCAR rulebook states that only air guns approved by the sanctioning body can be used in competition, there is NO SPECIFIC APPROVAL PROCESS. “Only two half-inch air wrenches with single socket and a hex design capable of removing or attaching one lug nut at a time must be used to change tires during any pit stop,” reads the rule. Also, the socket cannot retain or disperse the lugnuts.

If a team has the resources to develop a device to improve performance, as long as the team follows the above rules, it’s game on.

AFTER that, Hendricks Motorsports hired Nick Odell (A top JGR air gun developer) away from the Kyle Busch Pit team. The intent, of course, was to gain the knowledge and expertise from one of the developers. IF YOU CAN'T BEAT THEM...YOU HIRE THEM!

Nascar has announced some pretty hefty penalties for the 22 team following post-race inspection. The car obviously passed pre-race inspection. The issue was with the rear suspension and the alignment of a truck arm. According to Todd Gordon, Logano's crew chief, it was off by 1/32 of an inch from sitting flush with the mount on the axle housing. In other words, there was a 1/32" gap and the rules say it has to fit flush, no gap allowed. Gordon attributed it to repeated torque loading during restarts, pit exit, etc. Perhaps Joey needs to cool it a little on those awesome post-race burnouts? ;)

Joey also lost his playoff spot...and points. He's too good of a driver to let that keep him down!
