According to The Detroit Free Press, Morgan Stanley's Adam Jonas asked FCA chief Sergio Marchionne if he would ever consider spinning Jeep and Ram, FCA's dedicated truck brand, into a separate corporate entity, and he responded with a simple "Yes."Jonas estimated Jeep's worth in January of this year at $22 billion. Ram was valued at $11.2 billion. This guy sure is interesting.

Actually (and I hate to stick up for this guy)....he was misquoted in that article. He was asked if those brands would be strong enough to be their own entity, to which he replied yes. Not that he was planning on it or considering it. The quotes: Adam Michael Jonas - Morgan Stanley & Co. LLC Hi, everyone. Sergio, Jeep and Ram, are these businesses large enough, let's say together or separately, but large enough, strong enough, independent enough to exist as a standalone entity outside of FCA, like Ferrari? Sergio Marchionne - Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV Yes. Edited April 27, 2017 by Anthony

630land
On "Mopar Fan Boys .com", they reported it was just a hypothetical Q&A, but some posters went ape-sht going "Oh no! How can he do this? What will they sell now, why??!...."
twintornados
...and if he does decide to spin them off, a Chinese conglomerate with mucho American dinero will slide in and snap it up.... Sergio has made no moves to sell off FCA's two main income generating assets, he would only consider that as a way of eliminating all of FCA's current debts but why do that when those cash generators could clear FCA's debts in the next five years. jpd80
It's interesting that Sergio has gone quiet lately, something is up... I wonder if things are already happening behind the scenes The sale of Opel Vauxhall seemed to happen a lot quicker than some expected thanks to closed door negotiations.... 630land
This whole "non-story" is a joke. Auto writers looking for click bait news. "Oh did you hear, they are going to.....!" "could" versus "will".
