Have you heard if the 2018 will be getting any new feature/option? Do have any information on the 9 speed transmission?

Ford has not yet released any information on updates or changes for the 2018MY Edge. I'd expect that information to be available closer to the release of the 2018 Edge Order Guide.

Does anyone know if the 2018 Edge/MKX are going to have the new 9 spd transmissions or are they going to be basically the same as the 2017's? There is almost no recent credible info out there for the 2018's, save for the hyped SEL Appearance Package. Thanks for any info here...

yes

Damn that sux, was going to wait until this time next year for the end of model year discounts and pick up a loaded Edge or entry MKX...but I'd like the 8/9/10 speed as I'd imagine it's going to deliver better real world mpg (the sticker is just a joke to normal drivers). Now it's buy a no discount 2019...

I would buy one at the end of this year with discounta and trade in a couple years after they have a year or so of production on the new transmission. Inevitably there are always minor issues they weren't able to test for.

&or

what about the idea that the MKX could get the 9-speed while the Edge could get an 8-speed version of the new tranny?

+ re: timing - the 9 might be ready already but not the 8?

Where have you read about a 8 speed? Do you have a link to the 8 speed? I read Ford and GM co-developed the 10 and 9 speed transmissions.

The 2018MY Edge USOB (Unscheduled Order Bank) is due to open on 07/17/2017. The 2018 Edge Order Guide will be uploaded to the Order Guide Section as soon as it is released to Dealers. It's usually available on or about the day that the USOB opens but there are sometimes delays if Ford is still finalizing the ordering specifications, etc.

Anyone know if Ford is going to increase prices for the 2018 Edge, and if they are how much?

Here's a comparison of the 2017MY vs. 2018MY Edge base vehicle MSRP prices for the AWD models.

2017MY 2018MY

  • SE AWD $30,945 $31,215
  • SEL AWD $33,785 $33,950
  • Titanium AWD $37,595 $37,925
  • Sport AWD $40,900 $40,675

The only real way to compare pricing changes is to price out vehicles with the same specifications. If you know what vehicle specifications you want I can price out a 2017MY vs. 2018MY for you. Just send me a message with the specifications and I'll send you the pricing for both model years.

Thank You for the production schedule update.

Just a couple of questions:

1. Once a vehicle order has been submitted to the order bank by the dealer, how long does it normally take to get scheduled to be built?

2. What is the approximate amount of time it takes to go through the actual production line?

Over the weekend I created a new topic... "Vehicle Ordering & Scheduling Process" (http://www.blueovalforums.com/forums/index.php?/topic/63667-ford-vehicle-ordering-scheduling-process/) which should answer the questions for you. As for the actual production time, perhaps one of the members that actually works at one on the plants can give you the best information.
