Harvick Wins Texas Pole

Kevin Harvick led a group of five Fusions at the top in pole qualifying today with an average speed of 198.4 mph. There were 9 Fords in the top 15: 1st (Harvick), 2nd (Blaney), 3rd (Bowyer), 4th (Logano), 5th (Keselowski), 10th (Kurt Busch), 11th (Stenhouse), 12th (Bayne), 15th (Cassill).

To be fair, several cars including Kyle Busch, Kyle Larson and three of the Hendrick cars never made it through inspection and will have to start at the back.

Johnson, who spun in round one of qualifying, will start 24th. He did make it through round one but flat spotted three tires as a result of the spin after finishing his lap and the team opted to change those tires for the race on Sunday which eliminated him from proceeding an further in qualifying.

I don't believe the spin was intentional but it will allow Johnson to start the race on three fresher tires than everyone in front of him. It also delayed qualifying momentarily but not long enough to help his teammates get through inspection. Just sayin'...I mean it is the 48 team. ;)

As a side note, one of the rewards for winning the pole was a custom Henry lever action rifle which the fools on FS1 called a shotgun.
