Bryan1
3 hours ago FRANKFURT, March 31 (Reuters) - Germany's transport ministry has found a new "defeat device" in a Fiat car during emissions tests, it said on Friday, escalating a dispute with the Italian automaker. The ministry declined to give details, but said it would send the results to the European Commission, which has reviewed a previous emissions case involving Fiat. Fiat denied its cars were equipped with an illegal emissions test cheating device. RichardJensen
Undoubtedly, the German government will handle this case exactly the same way they handled the VW case: With no fines or other action whatsoever.
jpd80
Undoubtedly, the German government will handle this case exactly the same way they handled the VW case: With no fines or other action whatsoever. It's like they are not into recrimination, more into how to move forward from here and do better... Mostly because they wouldn't know where to start with prosecution without casting critisism back on poorly drafted regulations that allow so many concessions and out clauses on technical grounds. I could imagine that being the equivalent of legal quicksand I'm happy that Sergio now has a problem to deal with, should make selling FCA easier......:rolleyes. It would make it easier on a buyer as Sergio will be less likely to dictate terms of such a merger or sale and the buyer will probably be able to get just the parts they need and force Exor llc to keep and close down the rest just like Ford was able to get Land Rover and BMW had to sell off MG/Rover to an investment group. AlRozzi
Now that VW and Fiat are guilty of the same crime it seems a VW/FCA merger could be like Diamler/Chrysler's "merger made in heaven." Ah...well, understanding that they are guilty of a crime, maybe it is a merger made in hell?
