2017 F150 Raptor 10 speed transmission

For those of you with the 2017 Raptors, I wanted to get your opinions on the transmission. I've got about 1000 miles on mine, and either it needs to be broken in some more or it's calibration needs some improvement.

I wouldn't call this transmission smooth under general use. The shifts seem harsh, particularly from fourth to fifth, and sometimes it's in too high of a gear for the speed and vibrates the truck like a manual transmission would.

Perhaps it's a break-in issue but I don't know.

That's initially what I thought, but it became bad enough that it wasn't enjoyable to drive at all, so I took it to my local dealer and asked them if they could reprogram it, to see if it was an electronic control issue. Well after they test drove it, my service advisor, whom I've got a good relationship with, told me that it drove like s***. So after further inspection they dropped the pan and found metal shavings in there. With further consultation with Ford, they determined there were some bad parts from the factory and Ford overnighted a new converter and valve body. They said the valve body was for good measure.

Since the repairs were done, the difference in driving the truck is like night and day. It makes me like the truck again, because the new truck was making me regret trading my 2013 Raptor.

I was somewhat apprehensive about buying the 2017 in the first place because of the brand new transmission, so I hope it holds up long-term, as this wasn't a great start. Ford and the dealer did a good job of getting on top of it though, because I thought it was going to take a lot longer.

They gave me a diesel Super Duty service loaner, and you don't realize how good that Raptor suspension is until you drive one of those bad boys. I don't recall the suspension being that stiff back in the day in my 2001 Super Duty, but perhaps it was. Nevertheless, it was good they provided a truck to drive, and I always wanted to try the 6.7L.
