brucelinc
http://www.motor1.com/news/140255/lincoln-continental-head-up-display/ Lincoln has been a bit late to the party with this but it appears to be a good system. They needed this to be competitive with other premium brands. I hope they improve the flexibility of the configurable instrument cluster. The current version is not nearly as impressive as that of the 2018 Mustang. It would also be nice to have the center screen configurable, too. As for HUD, I have not had tons of experience with it but I when I have driven cars with it, I found it to be more of a novelty and really a distraction rather than a benefit. Just seemed like an unwanted reflection on the windshield to me. I know that are some people who think it is great so it is good that Lincoln finally will have it.
akirby
Not personally a HUD fan but it is needed to stay competitive and I do like the configurability. Agree that the IP needs the same flexibility.

probowler
How well do these systems work in the Sun? The sun likes to rise right above the highway during my commute and fora couple miles I can't see my speedometer through the blinding sun... I've often thought how nice a Hud would be in this situation, but.... would it even show up in those conditions? I do like the navigation feature.... so you can see upcoming turns and distance without looking down at a screen. I don't know if sun has usually been an issue, but I know they often disappear with polarized lenses on.
brucelinc
I don't know if sun has usually been an issue, but I know they often disappear with polarized lenses on. The Lincoln system is supposed to work fine with polarized lenses according to the press release. That seems to be the thing they are most proud of. Any other HUD that I have experienced in friends cars or rental cars has disappeared when wearing sunglasses.

Right, I know, I was addressing his sun question. But that was good to point it out again.
brucelinc
It appears that the addition of HUD to the technology package adds about $1000 to the price. Ouch!
