MY93SHO
We've got plenty of cars and trucks! http://www.msn.com/en-us/money/companies/gm-has-a-huge-supply-of-unsold-cars/ar-AAofFfZ?li=BBnb7Kz "According to a report Monday morning from Automotive News, GM's passenger car inventory started the month of March with a 123-day supply of passenger cars and an 81-day supply of light trucks. The Buick division posted a passenger car inventory of 239 days, about three times the 79 days of supply at the beginning of March 2016." akirby
Maybe it needs to be Car Month instead of Truck Month....
buddysystem
A local dealer here was offering half price or 2 for one Buick Encores......They were 2016s. Granted they are small SUVs but it's inventory that wasn't moving.

630land
Buick is having trouble changing from "senior bargain car" to luxury. Many former loyal buyers are no longer driving, for one thing. Centurys used to sell for $18,000 and cant sell a $30000 Regal to same crowd. And why is the Envision coming from China when they can easily build in MI? silvrsvt
And why is the Envision coming from China when they can easily build in MI? Its just a trial balloon to see how Chinese made cars sell in North America. Or it was done intentionally to prove to GM execs that they won't work here. Could very easily be built at D-Ham with the regular model since it shares a line with the Volt but they're importing it from China for whatever reason. jpd80
Three standouts for GM, Cruze..............78,400...122 days Camaro..........33,300...172 days Malibu.............69,300...134 days LaCrosse.......19,100...340 days Fresh new product didn't save these cars form seeing declines, sad really that GM's best efforts in cars arrived just as the market cooled for cars....any cars that survive are going to be more like niche products and can probably be taiored to be valuable extensions on platforms aligned with utilities...... Camaro and Mustang being the exceptions to that rule.

grbeck
The new Buick LaCrosse is fairly expensive for what it is. GM fans - and, apparently, GM senior management - seem to believe that Buick is "premium" marque, but most people I know below the age of 60 view it as competitor to Ford, Toyota, Chevrolet, etc., that happens to sell to senior citizens. When faced with paying that money for a Lacrosse, most people are going to buy something else - either a car with a more prestigious name, or a crossover. The Cruze isn't a bad car, but it looks like a 2012 Honda Civic with a Chevy front clip. The car simply doesn't look very fresh, and, perhaps even worse, looks less "substantial" than the new Civic, or even the old Cruze. I've read that Mary Barra has said that the sale of GM's European operations are just the beginning of its "pruning efforts." How long until Buick passenger cars, and the Cadillac passenger cars below the CT6, get "pruned?" Edited March 16, 2017 by grbeck

GM is going full ham at pruning sedans and shifting damnnear every available development dollar towards CUVs. The more immediate change, however, will probably come down under. tbone
Agreed. There is still a market for cars. Not everyone wants CUVS. If Chevy abandoned the market, it would benefit Ford. Edited March 17, 2017 by tbone
grbeck
It would not make sense for Chevrolet to abandon the passenger car market. It would make sense for GM to phase out Buick passenger cars and offer ultra-deluxe versions of Chevrolets in their place.

silvrsvt
It's not going away completely - it's just going to be a smaller marketshare. Right which means less investment...just look at what Ford has done with its freshes of the Focus and Fusion. If cars sold better, they'd get more investment. Instead that money is going towards CUVs' instead, which are selling more. Doesn't make too much sense to spend alot of money on sedans that are seeing 10-20% less sales. 630land
With Focus and Fusion, they will share a plant going forward. Gone are the days having a plant dedicated to one 4 door, like the old Atlanta Taurus one. Buick will replace the Real sedan for 2018 with wagon and hatch, but is that too late? For next gen Focus hatch, Ford should offer an 'all trac' model like Impreza and Golf. Call a vehicle a "CUV'" and wallets get emptied.

It may be easier to replace Buick with GMC and just add a few cars with more GMC like styling.and grilles. Logistically, it would be probably be much easier to convert the NA Buick dealer network over to GMC The question would then be which is better as an international brand Chevrolet or GMC. ehaase
The fellows on GMI are salivating over the new CT2 and CT4 sedans that Cadillac is supposed to developing for later this decade or earlier next decade. The type of buyers who would want a Buick sedan can only afford $25,000 to $30,000, not what Buick wants for a LaCrosse. Who even knows what would be easier for GM at this point? It's like, after I don't know how many years of GM putting new wallpaper up in a house with no windows, I don't even know how they could fix what they're doing, short of doing just about everything differently. We've only seen this version of GM in an up market where making profits is easy, I wonder what happens with all that multi-branding when the full sign goes up... maybe we're about to find out...
