Keselowski Wins Vegas Pole

Blaney third, Lagano sixth. All three brands were in the top five. Ford-Toyota-Ford-Toyota-Chevy.

None of the SHR or RFR cars made the final round. I suspect the SHR cars will be a factor in the race though. Bowyer missed the final round by .001 second.

Amazing how close the qualifying lap times are these days. The difference between 1st and 30th was 0.670 seconds over one and a half miles...

In other NASCAR news Las Vegas gained another race for the 2018 season which I assume will be during the "playoffs" while New Hampshire lost theirs. New Hampshire's 2017 fall race is the second race in this year's Chase.

Let's take guesses on how many Chevy Truck Month Commercials will run during the race coverage. It's the one with the creepy guy hugging the front bumper. I guess '8'!!!

What a heart breaker for Brad. And what's up with Kyle Bush? That guy needs some anger management lessons like his brother had.

The guy is unhinged. I think Kyle Needs a suspension after his threat to get Joey. This is unacceptable. Remember hothead Kenseth who did a similar threat and then carried it out by deliberately slamming Logano into the wall....he could have killed him. NASCAR needs to take action....besides dollars that Gibbs will fork out. The Gibbs drivers are all crazy..Kenneth, Busch and Hamlin.

From what I saw it looked like the Busch Baby got the worst of that deal. Car and head.

Just hope Joey landed the punch and not one of his crew guys-from what I saw, and it looked fairly clear, BB just walked up to him and took a swing!

Clealy was......"one of them racin deals" as Schrader would have said

I'm kinda glad NASCAR isn't issuing any fines and penalties. As much as I despise Kyle Busch I don't really have a problem with it as long as he doesn't go full Kenseth and take it out on the track. That's how people get seriously hurt. The sport was built on that kind of passion, it's refreshing to see it comeback even if only for one week.

Well and at least both guys had their helmets off. Remember when Gordon walked up to Kenseth several years ago with his helmet on and gave Kenseth a good shove? Matt wasn't wearing his.

I sort of agree with the "Boys have it" mentality until it comes to doing crap that would be considered assault and battery in a court of law. IMO throwing punches falls into that category. Blatantly taking someone out on the track comes close as well. I have no desire to see law enforcement involved but I think NASCAR needs to do a better job of policing their own sport. To their credit Kenseth did get penalized pretty severely for that incident with Lagano.

There are times when drivers are going for the win and being super aggressive, people get in their way and shit happens and to me that is totally different. Both Penske drivers have won races that way on more than one occasion. Could they be a little less aggressive? Sure. But IMO going for the win and intentionally wrecking someone just to get even are two entirely different things. Lagano is no angel in that regard either. Didn't he take Hamlin out during a race a few years ago? I believe that was the wreck that screwed up Denny's back and probably led to a lot of the bad blood between the Penske and JGR teams.

Big picture though Dale Sr made a career out of moving cars out of his way. He had seven championships to show for it and Mark Martin had zero. They get paid to win, not be Mr Nice Guy.

True but the bump and run was more of a short track tactic. It still gets used at tracks like Martinsville, Bristol and Richmond but probably not as much at Bristol since they reconfigured the track. Not such an easy or safe thing to try at 180 plus mph which is where the speeds are on most of today's mile-and-a-half and larger tracks. Wasn't Keselowski clocked at 207 entering turn one during qualifying at Vegas?

Also a great point. God I miss the days where 3/4 of the schedule wasn't 1.5 mile tracks.

Should be interesting to watch Bowyer this season on tracks like Martinsville. He came up through the dirt late model short track ranks and knows all about the bump and run. Now that he is in competitive equipment again I bet he will be a lot more aggressive.
