Thanks for the heads-up on the order bank grand opening!  :)

I wonder if you've heard anything about the priority of builds.

I currently own a 2015 F-150 ordered new as a customer order, and then when I read the news of dealer stock orders getting priority I re-engaged my dealer and he submitted a duplicate order as a dealer stock order, and that one did indeed come in first.

The one that was a customer order (my truck's doppleganger) got sold through the dealers website to somebody in Atlanta.

So what I'm asking is when I order that new 2018 Raptor on the 15th of May should we put it in as a dealer stock order or a customer order?

As an aside I heard on the Raptor forum somewhere that the first Raptors built last year were those for overseas customers (I think China was mentioned).

So any info you can provide will help to temper my expectations.

Thanks in advance for any info you can share.

M.

It still works the same way.    But here's the rub:

A dealer stock order may or may not be built before a customer order.   It all depends on when the ok to buy is given and when your dealer gets allocation.   When they start production on a new model they hold the vehicles that are built until they can be inspected.   They won't start building customer orders or shipping vehicles until the plant goes 5 days with no major build errors.   That could be a week or a month.   During that time only dealer orders are built.   Once the ok to buy is given the previously built dealer orders are inspected and corrected before being shipped.   If your truck is a dealer order and it gets stuck in the back of the lot it might take an extra month or longer for it to actually be shipped.   It could also be one of the first to be shipped - there is no way to predict it.

You got lucky that your current truck wasn't stuck at the back of the lot waiting on repairs.  There have been extreme cases where customers had to wait 3-4 months extra.  With a customer order you know it will be shipped as soon as it's built.

If the dealer is willing to do 2 orders then that's the best of both worlds.  Otherwise you have to ask yourself - do I feel lucky today?  Well - do ya punk?

Late availability. Look for it spring of next year. Possibly a new order guide to cover it then, it just an addendum to this one.

The block will be poured from "midyear" 2017. This must mean salestart in Sept-Oct .

Source- Sintercast , the techprovider to Tupy where it will be poured.

Look at page 6
Wave 4: V-Diesel Passenger Vehicle
Engines Beyond Europe

" Ford announced a 3.0 litre V6 diesel option for the F-150 pickup;
North America’s best-selling vehicle. On sale in the autumn of 2017, foundry production is expected to begin mid-year"

http://www.sintercas...Report-2016.pdf

I hope it´s correct with midyear 2017 and not 2018.............

Yeah I knew it was late availability, I was just hoping the order guide would have had it on there and designated as late availability instead of just not on there at all.  TBH I'm hoping the Expedition gets the 3.0L diesel.  A 3.0L Expo with a shift lever conversion is looking like a pretty dang nice vehicle to me...

I know people think the amount of options available on the F150 are unreasonable but I personally think it is great. There is just about something for everyone to choose from.

The one area I think they lack is wheel choices and this applies to most models. Why can't I buy a Lariat with special edition package and get the 22 inch wheels that are only available on the Limited?

Ford should consider having a "wheel boutique" in the Ford stores that will give you credit for the tires/rims on the truck for the tire/rim combo of your choice. Nice after sale, sale.

I dont disagree, I have changed out the wheels on my last two trucks because I found the stick wheels to be lack luster.

I also don't like the offsets Ford uses for their wheels, as they tuck too far under the wheel wells and narrow the stance.

Thankfully there are a lot of reasonably priced high quality aftermarket wheels out there to take care of these issues.
