Bill P
2012 Transit 135,000 Miles Never had any issues, ran great till last week Idles great smooth upon acceleration misses, NO OBD Code at all still after 300 miles Feels like I am running over a "rumble strip" I have always preformed reg maintenance. Once miss started I replaced: Plugs ALL OEM Parts Coil boots NOT Coils ALL OEM Parts Tried trouble shooting by: disconnecting each coil wire, at idle, no differences disconnecting each fuel injection connector, no difference seems like fuel, no electrical Don't want to just throw parts at it Any and all ideas will be greatful
fuzzymoomoo
Sounds like it could be throttle body. Which engine do you have?

fordtech1
Does it miss when revving it up at a stop or do you have to be at a certain speed?
Bill P
In park all seems fine, no miss under way above 10 mph or giving it gas while driving up to 60 mph
fordtech1
So anytime giving it gas under a load? Can you make it miss while in drive holding the brake and giving some gas. I'm trying to help determine if it's definitely misfire or transmission concerns like torque converter.
Bill P
while giving gas, and while cruising speed is optained misses also I can put it in drive foot on brake and sometimes feel the same miss checked the new plugs after 300 miles all 4 look the same seem to be sooty like carbon on the out side electrodes are clean
fordtech1
Most likely you have a coil breaking down. You just have a code reader not a larger scan tool?
fordtech1
I'm assuming you have tried to keep the misfire going for a while to see if the check engine light comes on. One option without a scan tool that will do power balance test, go buy a coil from auto parts store and swap it one at a time. And see if it changes. Bill P
I have tried everything to throw a code, nothing ever come up. I was going to do that, but all 4 plugs look the same sooty carbon on the outside ring of plugs, wondering whats up with that
fordtech1
I think that's about the last thing you can do without any diagnosis with a scan tool.
Bill P
I will try that I just thought if a coil was going bad it would have thrown a code
fordmantpw
Have you changed the fuel filter?
fordtech1
Have you changed the fuel filter? Almost everything since starting 2008 doesn't have a serviceable fuel filter.
fordtech1
I will try that I just thought if a coil was going bad it would have thrown a code Agreed, but I have in rare cases seen coils that are failing not set codes. I think the RFI of a failing coil confuse the pcm.
fordmantpw
Almost everything since starting 2008 doesn't have a serviceable fuel filter. Alrighty then. My '99 exhibited the same problems and a new fuel filter fixed it. Carry on.
fordtech1
Alrighty then. My '99 exhibited the same problems and a new fuel filter fixed it. Carry on. I can honestly say I have never seen a fuel filter fix anything. Most of the time if it's at that point the fuel pump is shot. But ofcourse most of the time the customer brings the older vehicles to the dealer after they have done the simple stuff like fuel filter. Honestly, about 6 months after the fuel filter fixed things, I lost two coil packs AND the transmission. So, maybe it didn't really fix it and things just got better for a little while. That's why proper diagnosis is so important with correct equipment.
