Hi Everyone,

I'm looking to take delivery in Mar. 2018 of 2018MY Expedition Max 4x4 Platinum.  Would you recommend I order through dealer, or do you expect enough inventory to be available by then at dealers that I can just walk-in?

I do need it specifically with a bench 2nd row.  As far as colors and options go, I'm open to what's in stock at the time.

I would recommend ordering since you want a bench. My experience in SE Florida has been that most of the higher trim level vehicles have the 2nd row bucket seat option and rear seat entertainment systems installed, neither of which I ever wanted. Since you have time, I see no downside to ordering.

If you have the time just order it the way you want it.  Why compromise if you don't have to?  Shouldn't change the pricing.

Hi,

I ordered my 2018 Expedition Limited 4x4 (Blue) on August 31st.

Just got an email from my salesman with a build date of the week of January 8th, however no VIN yet. Was hoping for this year, oh well. Hopefully Ford will renew the $1000 rebate, maybe add some others.

Any idea how long before a VIN becomes available?

Dennis

If you can wait you should, however, i found the truck i ordered thats being delivered to another state, and it happens that im headed there this week so they holding it for me to look at. I ordered mine because of the region i was in, and since they started showing inventiry, this is literally the only truck the exact same as mine from texas to the east coast.

If he knows the build date, it has a VIN. Can't have one without the other.

H'mmm, I don't understand why he specifically said no VIN yet.

Is there someone here that could check for me.

Order #: 0831

Dealer #: F48539

PS; there was also a F-150 ordered by this dealer under the same order number.

Got my window sticker today and cotus says in production now.  Based on when this happened with my 15 F150 I would estimate I'll have it around Dec 9th give or take.  My original order date was 7/7.

I would imagine everyone else on this forum that ordered around the same time as me should be getting their window sticker soon, might want to check cotus.

Greetings all,

I stopped by a dealership who had a Pearl white Platinum in the show room. It was nice to finally see one in the flesh. Its a nice looking truck inside and out. The 22” wheels make the 20” wheels on my 2007 Expy look puny...

My salesman just emailed me the VIN for my order. 1FMJU2AT8JEA09896

Would anyone be able to use it to determine its build date or status?

Thanks in advance for any and all replies.

It is scheduled to be built December 5th.  No dealer ETA.

I know production is likely prioritized based on model, features, etc but can the last digits of the VIN be used as a GENERAL indication of build order?  This response was a 12/5 build for a VIN ending in 9896.  My VIN ends in 7762.  I've heard from dealer "production the week of 12/4" but COTUS is still in "Order Processing."  Can I assume, because 9896 is on 12/5, that my 7762 would arguably be built before 12/5?

Well, I just blew my theory out of the water.  I found a random inventory vehicle on Ford's webpage that ended in 8206 and that one is already In Production.  So the answer is no, this does not suggest mine is earlier than 12/5!

Man, I'm just hoping to get the vehicle before New Years but it's not looking good!

Happy Thanksgiving.

VIN's do not run consecutively or in any logical order.

A vehicle's status could show "In Production" for up to a week or more before it's built.

COTUS is very unreliable.  Take any information you get off that site with a grain of salt
