akirby
<sigh>. You're confusing the shift rods on the transmission with what actuates them. 20 years ago the shifter directly actuated the shift rods. Today the shifter is mostly electronic, sending a signal to the TCM which uses computer logic to select the appropriate gear.
fuzzymoomoo
it's this simple Transmissions come down the line in neutral. I can spin the end of it by hand. I flip the switch one notch either way, I can no longer turn it by hand.
akirby
Does the lever you flip go directly to the shifter?
