Barry Raub
Hello, anyone else experience a clanging metallic noise while shifting from drive to park or drive to reverse, also happens park to reverse. This car does not do it all the time it seems very random on when it wants to do it but when it does it freaks me out. It only has 3500 miles and just started at 3000. Any suggestions? I suspect the 2 piece drive shaft.... Barry

Barry Raub
Sorry Auto. I was told it was "normal" but I have driven fords all my life and never had an issue like this, especially so early in a vehicles life. My last new car was the 2014 fusion and drove it hard and never one issue till I traded it on this one.
fuzzymoomoo
Sounds like shift linkage. If it's what I'm thinking of its just the metal parts rubbing together. It shouldn't be anything to worry about unless it starts getting worse.

fuzzymoomoo
Definitely not shift linkage, you would hear it as you're shifting..... That's definitely not normal and you should probably take it to the dealer. Your warranty should cover whatever it is.
Barry Raub
I took it and they said it is normal and will not hurt anything. Guess I will take it somewhere else... Thanks
fuzzymoomoo
Normal would be a slight clunk as the gears engage. That sounds like something else is going on.
