Just like the insurance they provide. Legalized bookies. They don't care about driver's, they only care about claims and loss of money. coupe3w
Worse than that. The F150 not recommended by consumer reports. And Ford just above Dodge? What's going on here?
tbone
You beat me to this topic. I think the headlights on my 2013 F150 are fantastic. They are significantly better than our explorer's. This just seems like an extortion method if a manufacturer wants to obtain the top safety pick rating. I like to see more detail on their testing method.
jpd80
You have to pay these people to not say bad things about your product, they're like trolls that extort money for favourable opinions...

BORG
They do have a methodology used with other vehicles which do rate much better, such as the Ford Fusion which is rated good. I know truck headlights tend to be dimmer because they are higher. The best headlights I've ever used were on my 2011/13 MKX with HIDs, and I know they were extremely dazzling to oncoming drivers which constantly flashed me. As for Ford's quality rankings, these have been diving for a couple years now, I think we all know Ford has issues with transmissions and infotainment systems. Although unless you're at the bottom of the list I don't think there is any significant quality differences on these type of lists. rperez817
Yes, I am because I have owned many Ford trucks. The better question is, are you surprised? No sir. The F-150 headlamp rating from IIHS doesn't surprise me, as I find the low beam LEDs on those trucks blinding when they approach. I don't blame the owners of these F-150s, it's just the way the lights are designed unfortunately. As for the dependability study coupe3w posted, it evaluates problems reported by owners of three year old cars and trucks. The vehicles in this study are from 2013. Both Ford and Dodge launched several updated vehicles that year, and both did so in a half baked manner. So no surprise there either. I too have owned several Ford trucks over the years, all Rangers or Couriers. My '04 Ranger is still going strong, though the halogen headlamps on it aren't particularly bright. lfeg
Looking back, the headlights on the 87 to 91 Ford pickups illuminated the road the best with the least glare to oncoming drivers. The headlights on my 13 F150 are good, but they are tricky to adjust to give good roadside illumination while reducing glare. Now, the foglamps are another story, they may look good, but for illumination and seeing the roadside in fog, they are useless.
SoonerLS
I've not driven a '16 F150, but the headlights on my '13 are just fine.

justins
I remember a few years back Ford imported the F250 and 350 here to oz, and the headlights needed to be changed out because the originals weren't bright enough.
