silvrsvt
Looks like the next big thing in truck styling is make them look less like trucks...first the new Ram, now Mercedes https://truckyeah.jalopnik.com/the-mercedes-benz-pickup-truck-looks-like-a-freaking-sp-1788077730
RichardJensen
Wait. Mercedes hired Nissan to build a truck for them? I have many questions about this.
BORG
The big difference really comes down to a flush plastic bumper instead of a floating steel bumper. There must be significant weight savings and design freedom but I'm pretty sure the truck's primary customer needs something more durable so you have to work back from that customer instead of the luxury truck customer who wants something that's more progressive. GM and Ford don't have anything to prove to earn new customers, Dodge and others have more freedom to be different. And besides, Trucks have their own design DNA, once you start doing funky things that make it look like an SUV then it starts scaring them off. ANTAUS
Just sit in a MBenz CLA250 and an Infiniti QX30 and you will certainly notice the Benz influence in almost every switch. They tried well to hide a few things, but it's still a Benz. And not that Infiniti has been reliable as of lately, so Benz, and Nissan will make a good damaged marriage with baggage, sort of like your 2 or 3rd marriage. And now Nissan just finished buying out Mitsu, so that'll be another pile of unreliable garbage.

ANTAUS
They did a decent job of differentiating as much as they could between the Benz and Infiniti. Like the Benz has a floating pad-like head unit, whereas the Infiniti has it imbeded into the dash. Infiniti has a swoopier interior, but you don't have to search hard to notice the Benz switches/stalks/ etc. I mean they did that extra bit to make it different. Infiniti also drives a bit softer overall, I preferred it's ride. This is only because I had a friend who was interested in them 2, so we tested them out.
tbone
Good luck trying to utilize that styling trend in the NA truck market. They can then go for the record of the world's fastest emergency refresh. I think Nissan Frontier currently holds that record from several years ago. justins
These "Trucks" are the new SUV (or even CUV). They're "lifestyle" vehicles more than workhorse vehicles. In oz, they get used to carry motorbikes or surfboards moreso than bricks and tools.
jpd80
Funny thing was that the Mazda BT-50 was made with swoopy lines and sells poorly even though it's a Ranger under the skin.....I think the Europeans may go for car like trucks, Although Aussies liked their car based V8 Utes (pick ups)..... Bryan1
What does it all mean? Basically, what we have here are a few cool pickup concepts that will make the auto show rounds but won't see the back end of a production plant until at least 2030. http://news.pickuptrucks.com/2016/10/mercedes-benzs-x-class-isnt-here-yet.html
