silvrsvt
He was last active on the board August 6th, but I haven't seen him post anything in months...seen a couple postings on Autoblog from him... So did he just up and leave or something else happen?
grbeck
I've been following this site since early 2000. I've seen posters come and go. Niteflite and Mark B. Morrow are two who come to mind immediately. Life changes, including a job change, can influence the ability to post. Some people simply move on to other interests. Maybe Deanh got a new job? Wasn't he a sales representative at a Ford dealership? One factor is that there really isn't that much drama surrounding the Ford Motor Company at this point. From 2002 through 2008 there was a very real question as to whether the company would survive. When things are going well, there isn't much drama and controversy, which, in turn, influences how closely news about the company is followed, and whether people post about that news. ANTAUS
Can't believe how long I've been on this site, Sometimes it might be work related, and some other times, people just get annoyed, tired of it, and simply rather post elsewhere where their comments are appreciated. We just never know...
silvrsvt
Lots of us have been here a long time...I know I've been here since it was Ford Inside News or whatever it was called and Robert had his lawsuit with Ford at the time. I've had my lulls where I didn't post as much. I think the site was started in 1998 or so...so in about 2 years this site or some form of it will be in existence for almost 20 years!
rmc523
Hmm....you know, I hate to admit I didn't notice until you're mentioning it now. That's not to say I haven't missed his comments/contribution, obviously each member ads to the conversation, and I remember a few years ago when this place was (or at least seemed to be) much busier. At least we know nothing has happened to him if he's been posting on Autoblog every now and then. I remember Nick's sudden/unexpected death hurt both on a personal level and a forum traffic level (it's hard to believe that was over 2 years ago now)! I know I was (well, still am) a member of a Flex forum, but in addition to work schedule, I simply lost interest in posting, so I don't visit there much anymore.....but that's a little different - there's only so much stuff you can discuss with the dead-end Flex before it's all repeated. So there could be some of that involved, or maybe he's just been pretty busy. I don't recall his posts ever not being appreciated though to cause him to want to stop posting. Sometimes there are just times where you don't have much to contribute to whatever threads are active. Perhaps when auto show season rolls around here soon, he'll reappear. I can't believe I've been here 9 years already....time sure does fly!
silvrsvt
The one thing I have noticed about forms in general is that it seems like they are being replaced to a point by Facebook. Its alot easier to share information (well photos) and Facebook then it is on forums. The biggest issue is trying to find the information down the road, unless you save the posting! I don't use Facebook much....I just don't have that much to share haha. And I really don't care about friends telling me they went to starbucks to get the newest venti grande pumpkin twist nectar of the gods coffee. I can't imagine trying to follow posts and articles on Facebook vs. a forum like this. Speaking of Facebook.....was he part of that group of us that added each other a few years back? Just didn't know if anyone has reached out to him either there or via PM here out of curiosity.

I've noticed the same thing regarding forums and Facebook. I'm an administrator for a Mustang forum and it's all but dead now.
rmc523
Is it really that Facebook is that much easier to post content? Or is it perhaps more just because it's "closer" to people.....by that I mean because a post they might find interesting shows up in their news feed (if not getting a notification) so they can comment there rather than going to a dedicated website? Well lots of websites I visit suck at sharing images...not so much with Facebook. lots of people can't be bothered with image tags etc that need to be done to post photos here. Might seem like second nature to someone who's been using computers, but otherwise its a struggle. F**k Facebook and social media in general Come on tell us how you really feel! LOL Its a good way to see what happens when people troll intentionally/unintentionally without any moderator control. But at the same time you stop those same people from showing up in your newsfeed if you know how. Though this election cycle is getting really tiring of the general stupidity shown on both sides.

Yeah that's true....though you can copy paste some images directly into the response area here (if it's already online somewhere). I know there's more to it than that though. More traffic made it more fun though.....I remember when threads would be 10-20 pages long! But, the "core" members are still here, so I definitely still enjoy it here! akirby
I think it's more the case that they are already on Facebook therefore it's easier to see everything in one feed. And it is so much easier to post pictures and you can tag people specifically. I like FB, but I still prefer forums for this type of stuff. But I (obviously) agree with you about preferring forums.
old_fairmont_wagon
I know that I only post here when I feel that there's something that I can add to a discussion. I do find myself posting more over at Jalopnik (lots of stupid people there need correcting) and at The Drive (I'm a fan of Tyler Rogoway's work). Traffic here is noticeably down over the last year. I'm down to stopping by only a few times a week myself.
Violet96GT
A couple of other individuals who used to post quite frequently many years ago were Voncoon and HemiSBC. Haven't seen anything from either of these fellows for several years now.

Haven't seen anything from either of these fellows for several years now. HemiSBC (real life: Ellis Brasher) seems to still be alive and kicking: http://texanonline.net/archives/5304/ While I don't wish anything bad for him, it's probably better for his blood pressure and mine that he's not coming around these days. Niteflite turned into retro-man, FWIW. He might've stopped coming by after he sold his LS T-bird (which I'm assuming happened because 10+ years is a long time to own something that unreliable)

PREMiERdrum
I've noticed a few former regulars who have been quiet lately, and quite honestly, I'm with them. It's gotten too contentious and argumentative for me. I'm holding out hope that once the election fatigue wears off, we'll all go back to being lovably crotchety. ice-capades
I've also been wondering what happened to Deanh as he contributed a lot of valuable information from the dealership perspective which was a bond that we shared. Hopefully he'll be back soon!
