Kev-Mo
This is a great quote - and I find it mind boggling that more Americans don't care about what he is trying to tell us. There are only 3 real ways to grow an economy: Mining, Agriculture, and Manufacturing. Printing money, increasing debt, trading services, and adding additional fees that don't add value but increase spending don't grow the GDP - as we have seen for the last 20 years. Either we have a country or we don't! Edited September 21, 2016 by Kev-Mo

Dayshift
Why does the UAW and other Unions continue to support candidates who sell us down the river. We gave Bill Clinton 100's of millions of dollars and he turned around and pushed NAFTA through. We gave Obama even more money and votes and what did he give us, TPP. He is still pressuring Democrats to sell out and pass it. The UAW needs to stop supporting candidates who push these deals that sell us down the river. Ask your reps this question and they just stare and you and then storm off. Edited September 23, 2016 by Dayshift

The company always cries/lies and says that they can't afford our wages, moving jobs out of the country and always gouging us at contract time when actually taxes are cheaper in these countries compared to the US, on a daily basis not just once in the form of an incentive over time. I say if they want to cut salaries they can start at the top. Of course their response would probably be "Let them eat cake".
tooltime
if you are foolish enough to believe Trump cares about trade pacts yet manufactures his clothing line in mexico and his hotel goods in China, crosses picket lines, hires scabs instead of building trades and has been an enemy of unions for years.................... Says we are overpaid and our jobs will be sent to low waged, southern republican states (with tax incentives) that hold down living wages and beg for our jobs back at lower wages with no benefits. You deserve the full wrath of republican utopia of low wages, no benefits, no collective bargaining rights and a path to destroying unions God help this country if trump the buffoon is elected

tbone
And if you think Hillary gives a rip about you or any of your counterparts you are sadly mistaken. She will sell you down the river so fast if it is politically expedient for her and her desire for power. Just ask your police union brethren how it's working out for them. pmooret
The mainstream media is not a good source for info. As for NAFTA I knew that Bush started it and Clinton signed it but didn't realize that Bush signed it too, so to speak. Wikipedia gives more detailed info. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_American_Free_Trade_Agreement When Trump launched his clothing line he started up manufacturing outside of the country, thanks to NAFTA. Auto jobs were started in the US but are being moved outside of the US which causes a lot of resentment and is a hot topic button. This election is about the lesser of two evils. According to the mainstream media the countries economy will collapse under Trump. According to me, when Clinton starts increasing our debt even more (free college for one) our economy will collapse especially since we are almost there now. If we make another payment to Iran we'll surely be there! You've heard of food lines and looting in other countries when this happens so the way I figure it if Trump gets in at least I'll still have my gun to defend myself from thieves trying to get my food and rioters trying to destroy my property! It's a crap shoot either way, sad.
tooltime
You can see with this voting record tool> http://www.aflcio.org/Legislation-and-Politics/Legislative-Voting-Records http://www.aflcio.org/Legislation-and-Politics/Legislative-Voting-Records .........how republicans vote to destroy workers rights, labor issues, cut overtime rules, eliminate collective bargaining rights, eliminate social security, remove minimum wage laws etc................ trump and republicans are not the "lesser evil", they build their campaign to trick the weak-minded to vote for their elite agenda. As Walter Reuther was correct, "what unions gain in collective bargaining, unions can lose it all in the legislative halls". Unions base their endorsements on voting records, not empty promises of building walls, stopping trade and exporting 5 million illegals

Unions base their endorsements on voting records, not empty promises of building walls, stopping trade and exporting 5 million illegalFirs First, my union brother, I want to commend you on your integrity by not resorting to name calling. I figured today when I got up that would be the case which would have meant that I would not have responded. As far as the following: ".........how republicans vote to destroy workers rights, labor issues, cut overtime rules, eliminate collective bargaining rights, eliminate social security, remove minimum wage laws etc.." half of that statement unfortunately sounds like our union. Doesn't mean I would like to give up paying union dues in a right to work state. I don't post often but lots of times when I do it is merely to make people think outside of the box. The following is not to make you vote one way or the other, merely a think outside of the box as I still believe this is a vote on the lesser of two evils and one is no less evil than the other: Since the democrats have been in office over the last eight years my son in law now has a bulls eye on his back. He is a career law enforcement officer and I am scared to death that my daughter will be a widow in her youth and my grandson will be an orphan. Now a person can decide on a whelm that they identify with the opposite gender so as to use the bathroom of their choice. This opens up bathrooms to pedophiles (not to be confused with the LGBT community). If a school does not abide by the new rules of choice the Democrats hold their education funding as hostage. I call this extortion. The definition of protest has now been revised over the last eight years. Use to be if a person wanted to protest they would make up a sign and stand on a street corner or march down the street. Now they refuse to stand and salute the flag with the blessing of the president. Obama is the laughing stock of other nations because he can't even get his country to salute their flag. Riots have become common over the last eight years, also with the blessing of the current administration. The list goes on but I have things to do today. Thanks Tooltime for being a debater and not a name caller!
tooltime
............Respect back to you Brother The republicans are good at "trigger'' issues or "emotional reaction". Guns, gays and immigration are a farce and nothing will change (Obama never came and got my guns). I posted the voting record tool for you above. I hope you opened it and noticed the destructive path of republican voting........... Maybe you will have a different perspective when you retire about these terrible voting records of republicans. They vote for elites and business and shit on the working class and seniors. Danger lurks when the Senate, Congress and President are all republican. Look at Michigan--> Same scenario. Republican majority raised taxes, new taxes on retirees, raised auto registration, state taxes, gas tax and passed the savings on to rich and businesses.............. Our social security is at risk with a republican majority,,,,,,,,,,, heaven help us if trump is elected Please use the link above from the afl-cio on voting records, republicans never vote for the working class God Bless
