Field Fires Back at Trump

Recommended Posts

I have to wonder about the leadership at Ford at times when they hold events like this, in this political climate. Does anyone on the PR team have a clue when it comes public perception? This event should have been postponed until after the election, especially with how contentious this year has been.

The longer they leave that out there unchecked the worse it is for public perception. One of these days ol' Donald is going to get sued for slander/libel for making patently false claims like that.

If you're referring to the investor dog & pony show, I think this is the traditional time of year for that sort of thing (cf. FCA's)

And keep in mind that the Fords are more than likely Republican supporters that Trump has seen fit to attack.

Trump is as far from a traditional politician as you can get, responding to his rhetoric only gives him more material.

Maybe the US deserves to become its own reality show...or is that a sitcom.....

Politics aside, moving any kind of production out of the country sucks. I understand the economics of it, but that doesn't mean anyone has to like it. Fields should not have made a comment because, no matter how you cut it, it doesn't present a positive image for Ford.

.

He has that in common with both of those companies, maybe that's why he likes them and hates Ford...they DIDN'T go to bankruptcy court like Chump did.

That's assuming that they care enough to do that.

Yeah, I guess it was more about defending Ford's record than actually discussing what was planned.

I just saw it as strange that the very thing Trump said,

“Basically when they make their car, and they think they’re going to get away with this,

and they fire all of their employees in the United States; they move to Mexico,”

He never really outright denied that which makes me wonder if there will be some job losses

that Ford doesn't want to discuss now as it will put a bad spin on all of this.

Fields did say no jobs would be lost because of the move.

I still remain skeptical.

is it?

I can hop on a boat there right now.

Canadians shipped the Americans back. If it would have been illegal immigrants floating north across the Rio Grande, they would have been given a court date to show up for 3 months later, food stamps and let loose. And they wouldn't show for the court date.

I don't think having people on tubes easily violating your sovereignty as "secure".

Yes it would be great if everyone in the USA placed a premium on buying cars made by unions in the USA but unfortunately they don't so we have important. But the more important thing is that many of these small cars being built in Mexico are for export to countries other than the USA where demand for small cars is still high. The reality is that its unlikely the USA can become a high volume exporter of cars to developing countries. So as long as Ford is increasing the number of manufacturing jobs in the USA and keeping their profits largely in the USA I think that makes them one of the better companies. Trump scares me. What happens if he is president and doesn't like someone or something? He just seems very unwilling to listen and very unwilling to base decisions and statements on facts.
