New 2017 F-250

Well had the SHO into the dealer today for a brake job- 84,000 miles- no vibrations or anything like that-just felt it was time-bottom line-fronts were fine needed rear only-not bad huh?

Anyway, I spot the one 2017 Super Duty on the lot. F-250 XL 4 x 4 gas job. $40 grand and change sticker. Have to say, aside from the price it was an impressive beast! 10,000 lb GVW! One look underneath it and you SEE the beef!

Tow package had the 2" receiver tube slipped into the 3"-or whatever it is. As for the look, really looks good in person!

Waiting for Howie Long to show up with a Skid steer so he can drop a pallet of concrete blocks into the bed! Speaking of which, I was watching a Chevy clip of the famous "block drop". After stopping the video several times I do believe the drop height into the Ford was just a tad higher-shocker. Remember the formula...Force= Mass x Acceleration!

We got out first 2017 Super Duty late last week... 2017 F-350 4x4 Crew Cab, DRW. Appearance-wise the changes are pretty minor which a very slight change to the 2-bar grille and sharper crease lines in the body, most evident in the DRW models. As such, it's hard to see how this is as big a change as Ford is touting. I'll wait until I see more of the 2017's before making a judgement but so far it looks a minor update. Not helping is that the new generation F-150's have cannibalized Super Duty sales the past couple of years.

It would seem to me the "big change" is the fact the cab interior dimensions are the same-that is correct right? Which as many of us have said-makes sense given fact old 150 vs. SD numbers were almost the same. Seems like everything will now settle out along GVW numbers- I'm sure there are almost matching GVW's high end of 150 vs lowend of 250 but what is least costly truck?

Big question as always is how many "conquest" sales do the new SD's bring in from GM and Dodge. Dodge is still leader in class 3-5 so hopefully new SD will do somethingabout that. Although looking at recent truck rag ads where dealers post prices, it seems Dodge 5500's -Cummins, Auto, are cheaper than 550's, Power Stroke, Auto.

That a fair observation- Dodge as a rule is less costly?
