Does anyone know if there is a downgrade path if this upgrade to v2.2 was to wreak havoc?  The dealership says I will void my warranty if I attempt this upgrade outside of their service bay.  I really need the traffic to work as sold but cant afford to throw away a 100,000 mile warranty.  Thanks in advance.

They can't void your warranty - it's illegal.   If the download messes up sync they may not cover that part but that's all they could do.

This is a long thread but jmr061 has posted the same updates over on the Edge forum and it's worked so far for everyone who tried it.  I'd say it's pretty low risk.

I bought a 2nd F150 with Sync 3 navigation in late March 2017.  Before buying I made sure that the traffic feature works, and low and behold it does!  The software on the 2nd F150 one is 2.2.  The software on my first 2017 F150 that doesn't work is 2.0.  Just two weeks prior (in mid March 2017) I had written Ford who replied that they are unable to even speculate when a fix will be provided for the traffic feature issue.

Hmmmmmmmm...smells like "someone" doesn't want to provide the fix (that clearly has existed for months now) to the dealers.  What the heck?  Is it because the dealers will charge Ford for the work, and Ford doesn't want to pay that?

Maybe the server that the vehicles connect to over wifi isn't stood up yet?

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!

I firmly believe the wifi update option isn't quite ready for prime time so they're not using it yet.   I was able to download 2.2 from the lincoln owner website via USB.  Did you check to see if the update is available at owner.ford.com?

If you want it that badly just go download it.  I've seen no reported problems with the download.

My speculation on why they had not released it was around the availability of the new hubs required to activate apple car play.   The software is self-installable via usb so it's probably not cost related.

Let me make sure that I understand the path for Ford to provide the Sync 3 update.

1.  SW has final tweaks made and tested by Ford

2.  Ford provides USB hubs to Ford dealers

3.  Ford dealers replace current USB hubs with new USB hubs

4.  Ford dealers install -- from a USB device?  or  via WiFi? -- the Sync 3 update in each car

I plan to wait for Ford to release and the dealer to do his part, but I just wanted to understand the path.

And, any guess as to win this may happen?

Thanks

That's correct. No real idea at this point when it gets released to everyone. I was able to download it via USB from owner.lincoln.com. Haven't done the USB upgrade yet. That's only necessary for CarPlay.

There are many MFT issues that were left unresolved for example;

The double horn honk on passenger exit with fob inside vehicle being one of the major ones.

I'm late to the party as usual, but I have to point out that the double horn honk has nothing to do with MFT. My wife's 2017 Escape does it, and for some reason my 2016 Focus without intelligent access also does it, and both have SYNC 3. It's a Ford thing.
