Anthony
Source: The Daily Telegraph FORD Australia faces a potential billion-dollar liability in a new class action seeking refunds on 70,000 allegedly dodgy cars. Ford is accused of misleading or deceptive conduct in selling 22 different models of Fiesta, Focus and EcoSport vehicles between 2011 and this year because it promised a breakthrough PowerShift transmission would deliver acceleration much smoother than a conventional automatic only for it to cause sudden power loss, shuddering, jerking, bucking or kicking. ... Under consumer law, a major failure triggers rights to a refund or replacement. More at link.
BORG
Interesting, I definitely feel bad for those consumers who are left with a major investment that Ford won't/can't fix properly. Edited June 23, 2016 by BORG
akirby
Don't understand the stalling problem - have we heard about that here? Sounds like a throttle body problem. The tranny and TCM is definitely a problem. Perhaps they have a case given how the law down under is written. I don't understand why the dealership didn't try to address the problems. blwnsmoke
I have been reading all the comments on here about this troublesome transmission but have never been in one until a couple weeks ago. Enterprise picked me up in a focus and every single 1-2 shift, the transmission slipped so bad the car was shaking. I couldn't believe how bad it was and I refused to take that car as a rental. jpd80
It will be interesting to see how much traction this case gets, The laws in Australia are a bit different to the USA with no Lemon laws, a lot of the onus lies with owners proving to The court that Ford has failed to deliver acceptable vehicles And honor warranty work. Good luck with that as I think Ford can demonstrate effective Remedial action for the Powershift. Where the see goes from there is anyone's guess Sales of Fiesta are now quite low- only a couple huffed a month While Mazda 2, Yaris, and Hyundai i20 sell in much higher numbers. 630land
My DCT was fixed and runs great. Cannot say that they "wont fix it properly". Agree that it should have been fixed long ago, but got to get word out. And no we all cant afford to lease a new Lincoln whatever every year. Dealerships won't fix cars undrr warranty unless Ford approves payment, There are a couple of Rangers with 6R80 Jammed in gear - it's a software issue that Ford has no remedy for atm, can you imagine the frustration of those buyers... MKII
Don't understand the stalling problem - have we heard about that here? Sounds like a throttle body problem. Yes it is a very common issue with the 2012-2014 built on or before 02-04.2014 Powershift & 2012-2014 built on or before 02-19-2014 5 speed manual Focus equipped with the 2.0 GDI engine. TSB 14-0215 was issue by Ford N.A. The problem occurs when the wiring harness rubs against the intake manifoild and cuts into the wiring causing a short.
