2017 Continental At A Dealership!

whats up with the lighting flicking on the headlights? assuming its the CCD sensor on the cell phone causing it

It's because LED lights are not "always on". Instead, they pulse on and off, faster than the human eye can recognize. However, camera refresh rates catch the flicker.

Couple takeaways...... It's not that big...... Next to the MKS it doesn't look any different proportionally, the extra interior legroom must come from stretching the fwd platform CD4 so much, nonetheless looks near the same. It's gorgeous, minus the horrible FWD proportions. Needs a V8 option somewhere in there, had it been RWD-bias. I say this...... Let this take over the MKZ in 2019 or 2020 whenever it's done, and bring in a Zephyr to sit under it, and bring in a RWD bias town car flagship for the new decade.

Also, I find it interesting this is a Lincoln/Jaguar dealer....... I thought it was a new Jaguar prototype...... Waterfall grille disappearing is weird.... I guess they really don't want any association with the old Lincoln. The whole thing is, these are cosmetic changes. I hope to see more advanced mechanics soon, I know the 10-speed is out, and there's a 8-speed for the fwd, so that's good...... If there is such a thing as a D6, and its either RWD, or RWD/FWD/AWD modular, it comes soon enough, because this madness, we need another Town Car, we need that flagship that blows the doors off the competition. The Continental is a great start, but not a flagship....

Question: how exactly is the MKS a crossover? Forgive my ignorance.....

The platform and much of the floorpan is shared with the Taurus X/Flex/MKT which is the origin of it's unusually tall dimensions.

Ah yes, gotcha..... I wonder how headroom is in this Continental for someone such as myself, 6'4"....... I like low sleek, like the LS.... The MKZ is horrendous and extremely dangerous backing up without a rear view camera..... I'm tempted to put a touchscreen with backup camera in it, but I don't see us keeping it long enough to justify and we make do as it is now. We've got our eye on a CT6 to get back to the roots, and I'm personally thinking either a CTS, Navigator or Escalade used, unless there's something that pops and is unresistable..... I will not own another MKZ however. There's always a slime chance to try a Continental out, but I just don't know. I want to see how good it is once people have them for a while, same for the CT6.

The CT6 would be what it sounds like you want, except for one problem. It does not have a V8 either. 4cyl turbo, or V6 with TTV6 coming.

If you want something large like the Town Car, a CTS will not due in any manner. It is smaller inside than the MKZ.

Lincolnlover, a question on the Continental.................... have you seen it in person?? It is a large car, and very stately in person.

He won't even consider it. It's "FWD biased garbage"

But that's the thing, Cadillac is counting on people wanting RWD at any cost and then sticking them with a 2.0T

unless they hand over much more folding stuff. At least the Continental puts those 2.7 and 3.0 TTV6s within

financial reach along with AWD that cures a lot of the complaints with traction and drive steer in corners.

The longer wheelbase of Continental improves those FWD proportions compared to MKS and MKZ,

the wheelbase is up around 118" so there's plenty of room there, exactly what luxury buyers want.

LincolnLover is probably the exact "tweener" both brands are after, trying to woo him in both directions.

The problem is that neither Continental nor CT6 is perfect for reasons already stated and so there's the

eternal compromise of an incomplete RWD (no V8) or a TT V6 AWD car that's "garbage" in his eyes.

Have you not heard about the 4.2TT V8? Did it slip your mind? It's in development like the RWD Aviator.....

The second problem is I'm pretty sure LL is 20.

You're relatively close, and besides that, it doesn't matter age is only a number..... I could be a millionaire at 18 legally....... Hence I can afford anything I want. Now, if I really was a millionaire I wouldn't even look at a single Lincoln, besides the Navigator I would need to have a 5.0SC put in...... I'm not looking for performance beasts, if I wanted that, I'd buy a CTS-V. I want a large full size premium luxury sedan with an advanced proper and superior RWD-bias and torque vectoring, with a small TT V8, super comfortable, plush, floaty, but still takes corners wonderfully, gorgeous leather, wood trim, chrome, technology, soft touch/no hard plastics...... I want a Lincoln that everyone knows and respects as the epitome of American luxury and can roll with an S600......

I think you guys are missing something..... When I say RWD-bias, that means I'm referring to rear biased AWD..... I'm sure we all know AWD isnt like 4WD, it's got a bias, front or rear. So with that said, I would be getting a rear biased AWD 4.2TT Platinum CT6....
