2017 MKZ at Dealerships

Recommended Posts

I was at my dealership yesterday and they just started getting the MKZ in that day, one was prepped for a customer and another was a training vehicle. I was actually there while they were training the staff which was interesting.

I like the more Euro-look, but it also looks quite a bit more derivative than before. Here are some snaps.

I love the front and the interior. The back is just OK. I feel like it flowed better with the previous nose. I really want to drive one. Not just any one though. I want the 3.0 awd with drivers package. If I like it, I will order one. Thanks to my Dad, I have Z plan so I am bound to get a good deal. I have only seen a 2.0 on the lot in North Chicago burbs. If I were still single with no kids, it would be the mustang as mid life car (no crisis here). 400 HP is nothing to sneeze at. I would love a continental but not sure I would be happy with a just above base for 50k model. Don't want to bite off more than I can chew in the car payment arena

I have been in Ford CUV's since getting rid of my 2001 Lincoln LS. I seriously miss that car for the handling and good ride. Maybe this the new MKZ will make me forget about the LS V8?

The only question is do I wait for the 2018 model, that may get the 9/10 speed transmission?

Derivative? Of what, the Continental?

The fascia is just standard stuff, nothing really distinctive or definitively Lincoln about it, from the shape of the lights to the shape of the grille it lacks excitement or originality. It's definitely the most conservative design on any luxury car which is fine, it looks a little more traditional and sophisticated and less attention seeking or trendy. Ultimately I think the idea is to invoke more prestigious brands rather than Lincoln. It probably wouldn't prevent me from buying a Lincoln, but I probably wouldn't be drawn to it either. Lincoln is imitating where it's inspiration has been (Jaguar, Audi, Bentley) but not where it is now or where it's going.

As for the 3.0T, that is 'late availability' and is expected to arrive later this Fall so for most of the year the MKZ will only be available with the 2.0T and Hybrid.

I was at the dealer getting mine serviced today and they had 7 on the lot. I like the White Gold.

I will be ordering a Continental later this summer but I hope my dealer gets an MKZ in the White Gold. That color is on my short list but I need to see it first.

I definitely give credit to Lincoln for finally offering more interior selections. Jade is something I would personally stay very far away from, it's an interesting color combination but green or shades of it are my least favorite colors on a car, especially since I once owned a Taurus GL with a green interior and exterior. It's still better than the hideous Gold/Beige exterior colors that Lincoln likes to do. It appears Hazelnut is being eliminated.

Ok, it's lovely, I'll give you that, but I'm dissatisfied still with the interior design, too basic...... The center console, stack and overall wood trim orientation needs to be redone..... I love the new front end, the 3.0TT is very nice, still not a fan of the rear fascia..... When is the redesign totally, 2019? 2020? Can't wait for that and hopefully we can keep this face longer than 7 years...... I'm still disappointed about the same 3.0TT and FWD-bias in the Continental..... It's a winner pretty much otherwise. I'd rather have the CT6 for overall.....

The thing I've noticed about Fords and Lincolns recently is that the there has been a trend away from major interior updates during MCEs. For example the MCE on the 2011 Edge and MKX included total interior revamps while all MCEs since then have seen minor interior tweaks. The MKZ really did need a more significant interior rework than it got. The next-gen MKZ is still 3+ years away. You can retain much of the interior and still upgrade some of the trim and features to improve it, although I think the MKZ needed far more design improvements than it got. I still can't stand the wood trim and air vent appliqué, it all looks mid 90's cheap to me.

Agreed 100% BORG.... This sedan doesn't yield premium luxury to me, I like my LS's interior better lol...

The MKZ interior is LIGHT YEARS ahead of the LS interior. For that matter so is my 2013 Fusion.

And before you ask - yes, I owned one for 6 years. Great engine. Great handling. But that interior was atrocious.

I already know Akirby..... The interior is not light years - it's simply softer materials, modern technology, etc, to make it more comfortable..... The interior design as we're referring to, is atrocious. It has no connection what so ever to premium luxury sedan worth $40-50k, but rather a premium level Ford Fusion...... This brand could be so much more with the right team.

The cars are ugly, more so interiors, they finally got aggressive beautiful body lines, but still, terrible designs. Woodhouse hasn't really gotten to design anything yet besides the Continental, so I'd say they got a good guy there. Honestly, they need to let him redo the MKZ immediately, that interior should've been a mini Continental.

With the current lineup, Lincoln still has the impression of moving up through the ranks vs coming for a specific vehicle. They all are the same, but they aren't.... The MKZ is a very basic design, really every vehicle looks to have gotten 5 minutes of interior design time.

I can't wait to see sales this year. Let's see if they gain more momentum DOMESTICALLY........

So you think this

Isn't luxury but this is (MB E class)

04-Mercedes-Benz-Vehicles-new-e-class-20

Are you being serious? I'm assuming you are, and I hate piano black trim...... Bad comparison..... I'll use it though... The Mercedes does not only feature superior design, it features more comfort, more refinement, far superior powertrain, and most of all looks...... I'm not going to get into the RWD-bias mumbo jumbo on the Lincoln forum again tho, because we already know where that stands..... Inexistent, and apparently "unnecessary"......
