Butchy
2 Escapes in family. Both rusting same spot. Passenger and drivers side rear wheel wells. Has this happened to you. What have you done to fix it?
silvrsvt
I was about to post the same thing, my Wife's 2010 has the same problem with the Passenger side. I'd like to know how much it would cost it get it fixed since we are most likely replacing it next year and don't want to dump a ton of money into it. Pioneer
I thought the wheel well rust problem ended with the 2008 model. That's the biggest thing to look for in the 2002 to 2007 model when buying used. Look at the rear shock towers too. Wife's, now daughters, 2011 is rust free. swine77
Same here both sides. Had them fixed last year for $600.00 but the problem came back. Was told needed a new whole rear side for about $2400.00. Pass.

BORG
My neighbor's 2005 Escape is rusting in that spot on both sides, actually a chunk is missing from both fenders now. All Fords tend to prematurely rust, that much I've learned living in Michigan, the Escape is actually a relatively good performer for Ford from my observation. It's never worth fixing once you can actually see the rust on the exterior surfaces. It's usually at that point that I would stop putting any money into a vehicle. That's what happened with my '96 Taurus, once It started rusting I stopped getting things fixed and saved money for the next car. Other vehicles that tend to rust prematurely include Hyundai, Kia, Dodge (Rams in particular), and Sprinter vans. None of the 4 has had any rust on it that would be considered abnormal or premature. The 08 focus has a little bit of rust on the right rear shock tower (inside the trunk for some reason) and a little bit behind the bumper where the paint came off when I accidentally backed into a pole and never fully fixed the damage. My wife's old 99 zx2 on the other hand, yeesh.... That car was about so break in half when we got rid of it.
atomaro
My 05 started rusting years ago. Both the passenger and drivers side. I had to do some creative body work on the passenger side as well. But all in all, you can't complain about getting 226K miles out of a car and selling it for 2500.
silvrsvt
The only Ford I had problems with rust was my old 86 Escort GT...the rear shock towers rotted out after 7-8 years on the road. I was able to poke a screw driver through it (found this out by accident ) I'll have to see if I can find something to do to stop the rust on the wife's Escape so we can trade it in next Summer and not get nailed hard.
