PREMiERdrum
At what point do even the rental car companies decide something is too far behind the rest of the class? This thing was barely competitive when new, and the post-bailout facelift did little to help matters.
akirby
When it's no longer cheaper than any of the alternatives?
630land
Rental companies are more astute these days, instead of buying craploads of Chevy Corsicas . GM had to go bankrupt to finally stop building ancient junk, just to dump into fleets. Sergio is just going cheap, and pouring cash into Alfa/Fiat. fuzzymoomoo
GM had to go bankrupt to finally stop building ancient junk, just to dump into fleets. Uh, they still do that. See Impala Classic, Cruze Classic, Malibu Classic, et al.
BORG
The Journey sells well because it's one of the cheapest 3-row Crossovers right now, and Chrysler hands them out even cheaper. According to critics after the last update, it's also not as terrible as we assume it is. I don't think this is a product that would work at Jeep which has a more premium edge at this size so it's hard to see where to put this vehicle anywhere else. silvrsvt
Or it just reeks of FCA not having any money to invest into updating products...which would indicate that the end coming sooner than later.
Anthony
This is kinda old news if you read around various forums. But, it still goes to show the turmoil that FCA is going through at the moment.
30 OTT 6
They sell these things as Fiat Freemonts outside of North America. Also, until 2011, they sold some of these with 2.0L VW diesel engines outside of North America. I would imagine that these are subject to the emissions cheating as well. bzcat
Journey replacement was going to have Chrysler badge when the thought was to turn Dodge into a muscle car brand. But that Chrysler model was also cancelled in favor of Jeep Wagoneer, which will be the 3-row version of Cherokee. Dodge and Chrysler nameplates can't command a price premium in the US and are useless overseas. So until Jeep Wagoneer is ready, Journey will continue unchanged and well past it sell-by date. 630land
If the Journey was a Ford, certain posters would be complaining to high heaven about how "old" it is and need a new one "yesterday". Instead it's "...it's one of the cheapest..." 'Cheapest' is correct, but certainly not the best.

I know two people that own Journey's and they like them. Like you said, it's the least expensive 3-row CUV out there and it's really not a bad vehicle. 630land
The Cruze Limited is a "Jetson's flying car" compared to the last versions of Corsica/Cavalier.

Latest I heard was the Journey replacement is defiantly going on the rwd AR platform to support the AR cuv variant hence the delay. The fwd Journey replacement is still on but going to Chrysler with a new(ish?) nameplate plus all of the rwd LX cars will end-up on the AR platform. 630land
There's all this speculation about new RWD designs from Alfa to go to Dodge, but first, they have to actually sell some Alfas! But, the Journey is selling since its an SUV to average buyers, who don't call them "CUV's" either. People go on Google for "Cheapest SUV" and up comes Journey with Compass. Eh sounds more like the Alfa is dependent on the Dodge, at least for platform viability/volume. Edited April 27, 2016 by rmc523

Must been tough for em for the Mitsu-rebadge/turbo-K 80s and 90s... Apparently the 5.7 may be supplemented by a ttv6 or not see anymore cars (just trucks) by 18'-20'. 392s and Hellcats will still be available for the foreseeable future though. Import fans will say "I'm looking at any Dodge; ewww!" I see no business case for Alfa Romeo based Dodges. The platform is too expensive for the prices Dodge could charge for them, except for the Hellcats.
