Anthony
Weird thing happened today. I parked my car (2014 Hatch SE) and came outside about a half hour later and heard a beeping noise every 30 seconds or so. After pinning down that it was coming from my car, I lifted the hood and figured out it was coming from there. It sounds like it is coming from the passenger side of the car. I've never heard this before. I did a search online and saw a number of other people have had this issue, but nobody seems to have figured out what it was? I had just returned from the car wash (I noted in another thread someone had just washed their car). Here's a video:

akirby
That's more of a screeching, scraping sound but I have no idea what it is.
YT90SC
Radiator cap venting?
Anthony
No, it is definitely an electrical based noise (may be hard to tell from the video). The general consensus is that since this happens to people mostly after a car wash and stops a number of hours later is that that the water is shorting something (horns?). Perhaps each time the noise is made, it is water dripping on something creating a short. It stopped a few hours after I took the video above. YT90SC
From what I can hear it sounds like "reed" type noise. I.E. a radiator cap venting or another seal allowing gas around it. A couple hours is enough to cool off the cooling system enough to dissipate the pressure. Get a mechanics stethoscope and see where it is coming from. The horn is in the passenger front fender, lower and forward of where your video appeared to be.
speedingtones
Seems like the sound comes from the Radiator.
Anthony
Did this again yesterday. Came home from a drive to Home Depot...no water involved this time. Ugh.
25dc
I think it is the Active Grille Shutters opening or closing. I hear mine sometimes when I clean the bugs off the front end.
fuzzymoomoo
Did you ever figure out what this was? I noticed mine doing this today when I left for work. It had only been parked for maybe half an hour before I left.
