Highlights:

-The engine is a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6, based on the current 2.7-liter that serves across the Ford and Lincoln lineup. With 400 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque, it's the most powerful Lincoln ever. That big number will only be available in all-wheel-drive versions of the MKZ. With front-wheel drive the engine will be detuned to an estimated 350 horsepower to retain some level of driving refinement. A further option on the AWD model will be the Driver's Pack, which adds the same torque-vectoring rear differential as on the forthcoming Focus RS. With the promise of rear-wheel-drive handling characteristics, the MKZ could be the most fun-to-drive Lincoln ever. In addition to the V6, a 245-horsepower, 2.0-liter turbo four, and a hybrid model will be available.

-The capacitive-touch sliding controls are gone, replaced by buttons and knobs.

-Lincoln firsts include autonomous emergency braking with pedestrian detection and all-speed adaptive cruise control. The MKZ comes with the latest version of Ford's park assist system, which will now maneuver out of parallel parking spots and automate perpendicular parking.

-The MyLincoln Mobile app will also debut on the MKZ (presumably like the one that debuted on Escape last night).

This had better not be a joke RMC! My goodness.

If it is, I fell for it too haha.

Yeah, I got excited and posted the thread with just a link before putting more info and pics in the post.

---

So the new grille gets put on it. In the official pictures, from some angles I almost think it makes the car look heavy if that makes sense. But seeing the live pictures, it looks much better.

The rear didn't change except what appears to be a slightly reworked lower diffuser area type thing.

The interior design remains mostly the same, with upgraded materials, which was definitely it's biggest shortcoming after sitting in it at shows since the MKC debuted. The interior pictured above is a Black Label model.

It has a Jaguar look to it. I'm not complaining because I like it so to avoid a flaming here I like where Lincoln is going. I'm looking at the rest of the car and though it's rounded in the front, it remains the sharper edges in the rear. I don't know if that's an improvement or not. I do say having the cars have this look and the CUV/SUV have the winged grille for now may work.

Yeah, the interior was a point of contention for the 'Why Lincoln?' group which in context I see the point. I'm thinking if the standard interior has say a Black or Stone leather with good wood or metal trim it will work.

Yes, I was thinking the same thing about the Jag look. Not a bad thing either, to me.

Brass tacks: 400hp/400tq? That blows the EB35 away. I wonder what the transmission is?

The press release doesn't say anything about what tranny it's paired with. I'd find it hard to believe they'd pair it with the same old 6-speed though.

I stumbled on this via an Autoblog tweet...and I fell in love. I think it's gorgeous. For a long time, I was focused on the MKC because I just couldn't REALLY get behind the MKZ. But this...this is awesome. The 3.0 will likely be hefty, cost-wise, but still can't complain about 245hp from the 2.0. It's now at the top of my list for my next car (even though it's probably a few years away).

Also love Lincoln finally putting the real tech in a vehicle. (You can get automated braking, etc on so many other other vehicles, it's about time for that stuff to show up here).

I do see a Jaguar-feel to it which is great, I'm all for the 400HP engine, I just hope the "body/suspension" plays the part too. No one needs a 400HP marshmellow. But overall it addressed my main concern, power.

Agreed. I think they have the parts and I hope they show 'Quiet Luxury' doesn't equal 'Soft Luxury'.

400 HP is quite close to the German V8 (non-RS/AMG/M) offerings. So Lincoln is not targeting them, but they're low-key trying to run with them.

Why even offer the FWD version of the V6TT though? It's not like 350 HP to the fronts is desireable in anything not considered a hot hatch.

I guess we'll also see how the EB27 works in the Fusion ST right? ;) I keep coming back to Jaguar for comparison. The XF has a 340 and 380 supercharged V6 family. Yes they're RWD and AWD unlike here. I wonder how that will play out?

I'd still argue the same.

I edited my post afterwards. My point is Lincoln is looking like positioning itself in the hunt like you said. I agree with you that 350 HP in FWD seems a bit much. Focus RS is AWD. I wonder how Lincoln will pull it off?

With very good traction control, I hope the Lincoln comes with adjustable tuning.....

Pretty impressive! Anyone else notice the Lincoln star pattern in the seats and door trim?

Looks like Lincoln is finally starting to turn the corner to be a respectable Luxury car company again.

Other cool things...torque vectoring from the Focus RS is optional.

One thing I do have to wonder about...with all the good stuff the MKZ has...I'm wondering if Ford should do a slightly stretched Focus (shared with the MKC) to have a car slotted under the MKZ.

Dear Lincoln Management and Ford Media Relations,

PLEASE RELEASE THESE WHITE CAR PHOTOS INSTEAD OF YOUR OWN GREY CRAPPY ONES. Some news bureaus are already using those ugly grey car photos (look on "yahoo F finance"). You want something in the papers tomorrow that looks great.
