Ford MKZ
So I picked up my new to me MKZ on Saturday. Car is 2013 in excellent condition, certified by the dealer with 13,600 odd miles on her clock. So far I can only report that I'm enjoying the car greatly. I've read some people having negative comments on the sound system, so I'll start there. After setting up the front/back speakers so that I can hear both set from my seating position tuning the base, mid and treble the way I like them I don't think the system sounds half bad. Sure at low volume there isn't a great crisp sound to the system and even at higher volumes the system doesn’t pump out window shattering bass, but hell, unless you want a disco in the car you shouldn't get that anyway. Of course if you love disco music or Rap you might need to install an aftermarket sub woofer but that isn't all that much anyway. As for the drive settings, I've only tried the one, I don't recall the actual name for it but it isn't sport or normal, it's soft, which I want to help my aching back. I do notice at least in this mode that the car has some sideways shake to it when going over pot hole infested city streets at a slow rate of speed. The steering might be a little lose feeling for me, but more testing will have to be done before I can surely say so. I'm taking her on a 200+ mile ride tomorrow so that will be a good test. The 2.0 engine sounds composed and even strong as she runs up through the gears, she shifts nicely and without complaint, reaches 60 quite quickly, certainly quick enough to make merging into highway traffic a snap. Sure she's not a burner and there is always room for more speed but you don't need 0-60 times in the 4 second range to merge into traffic. If you are looking for a race car you won't be looking at an MKZ in the first place. The climate controls will take some getting used to, I like air blowing out of the dash vents all the time, I notice that when I need warmer air the air flow diverts down to the floor and maybe even the defroster. I prefer the air flow remain at least partially onto my upper torso where I can better fell it. Well that's about all for now, still finding features I didn't know I had and getting accustomed to working them out in my own time.
akirby
You'll have to run the hvac in manual mode - just select the vent position and adjust the fan to your liking and it will stay that way.
Ford MKZ
Thanks I'll look into this fix tomorrow.
Ford MKZ
So I'll add a bit more now that I've got a few hundred miles on her. Heading out at 65 MPH I got an almost even 33 MPG (33.1) Heading back a few hours later at 70 MPH I got 31.5 MPG, all in all not half bad for a car that weighs around 3,700 lbs. City driving is another story though, I'm avg. 16.5 MPG in all city driving so far, with about 50 miles in the city thus far. One thing I've yet to figure out is, my call history isn't listed in the cars memory, my phone book is downloaded but not my call history, even after making several calls from the car. Any advice on this one?
