How about we get EVERYTHING back that we gave up for starters. COL, minute per hour back, 401k match, Christmas bonus and a Taco bar on the second Thursday of every month.

:play:

Trades gets everything legacy gets...... That's not enough??

No....we need language in place that protects our work from being outsourced to contractors, just as production workers want language in place to protect their work being sent to Mexico. Also need apprenticeship numbers to rise. Heck, I believe there is government money being given out to encourage skilled trades training.

BTW...cost of living has increased about 25% since our last pay increase(2002). I think 15% increase is fair to both company and UAW.

Seriously, $1000 new car voucher for retirees, least they could of done was get thier christmas bouns reinstated. nothing for skilled trades. other than that I like it.

I don't understand this to be honest. I mean I get it but would it have hurt to just pay a 1 time 1000 dollar check or sent them a check each year for 250 the week before Thanksgiving.

I know the companies want to wash their hands of retirees but damn a bone once in a while won't break the bank.

I will likely vote yes if our version is at least as good as the FCA agreement but I thought it might be nice to compare our gem of a contract to what Google employees get. Slightly different industry I understand but let me at the table in 4 years. I have a few things we could all agree on. Here is a very partial list of google employee perks.

Besides truly gorgeous office spaces, Google provides its workers with a lot of perks, and some former Googlers, and a few who are still with the company, listed their favorite benefits on the web.

1. The free gourmet food and snacks are never-ending. (24/7) (can you say break time)

Googlers employees are extremely well fed, getting healthy and varied breakfast, lunch, and even dinner if they stay late — for free. There are also coffee and juice bars scattered throughout the campuses. Licensed gourmet chef on each shift running the kitchens.

2. Besides being exposed to tech leaders, there are often talks with celebrities and other thought leaders. (We could call ours the Bill & Mark show) (maybe a plant chairman or two or even big Jimmy)

Googlers feel like they are really living in the future.
Because Google is one of the top technology companies in the world, it's no surprise that employees are at the forefront of technology.

Google has some of the best and brightest IT specialists available to help other employees get their jobs done. The TechStop is Google in-house tech support shop, it provides Google employees guidance with all hardware and software needs and problems 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

(How about free inplant wifi so I can get on Ford Blue Oval whenever the line goes down)

3. Google's buses, Google Picks you up and takes you home when your day is done.

(Like the rouge parking lot shuttle but better)

All the buses are equipped with Wi-Fi, so not only can employees live anywhere in San Francisco without needing a car to get to work, but they can relax, have fun, or get work done on the way there.

4. Googlers are free to bring their pets to work. (How about a 150 lb English Mastiff)

A former Googler describes why bringing his dog to work is so great. He says that it not only helped keep his energy up, but brought spontaneous joy to his coworkers and helped him meet people he probably would not have otherwise.

5. Free Massages on campus. (NICE)

6. Paid maternity time for mom & dad. (This would have come in handy not so many years ago)

New dads receive six weeks of paid leave, and moms can take 18 weeks, and employees' stock continues to vest (and they continue to receive bonuses) while they are on leave.
Google even gives us a bonus, called 'baby bonding bucks' shortly after our baby is born to help with expenses like diapers, takeout, and formula during our leave," one employee writes.
When parents return to work, there are free on-site daycares for children.

7. Special spouse death benefit. (This might be good for you old timers)

Google certainly inspires a lot of loyalty with Google spouses. If a Googler passes away while working there, all their stock vests immediately, and, on top of the life insurance payout, their surviving spouse continues to get half of the Googler's salary for the next 10 years. There's also an additional $1,000/month benefit for any of the Googler's children.

8. Employees get free fitness classes and gyms, and are encouraged to participate in organized intramural sports. (after 10 hrs on the assembly line I dont think so, how about tackle football with that tier 2 guy???

Employees get free fitness classes and gyms, and are encouraged to participate in organized intramural
Scooters they have scooters, many offices offer scooters for employees to zoom around the office on.

9. The 80/20 rule allows Googlers to dedicate 80% of time to their primary job and 20% working on passion projects that they believe will help the company. (Can anyone say FORD TEST TRACK)

The general consensus is it's the people, the business, and the technology that Google employees work with that make it worth being there.

10. In addition to vacations, Google's leave policies give workers more opportunities to explore life outside of the workplace. (i could go check out Fords big new facility in Mexico.)

Googlers can take up to one three-month leave of unpaid time off, under specific circumstances. Healthcare benefits continue for unpaid leaves of up to three months.
Googlers can use their time off to work with nonprofit organizations, political campaigns, and other community-oriented projects they're interested in.

I was reading that the voucher is transferable ( can be sold ). And also if they gave the retirees a Christmas bonus every year for the next 4 years ( which comes out of the pension fund ) it would of cost almost $2 billion dollars. So the $1.7 billion there putting in won't even cover the Christmas bonus.

So now we have our retirees out pandering a voucher. Retirees will probably have to discount it to sell it, otherwise the ad will read "Have a thousand dollar new car voucher for sell for a thousand dollars". How many takers do you think they will get on this?

I have friends that work at quicken loans. It's not always the best place to work, even with all the perks

Guy I have known since I was a kid does underwritting for them, he says it is the best place to work. Told me he has more perks doing what he does than he did as a district manager for a pharmacy chain.

I still don't see why the hell it couldn't be a check for $1000.
