Tier2
"Both automakers have stopped cranking out millions of vehicles at a loss and focused only on products they can make money on." This is the reason the companies are far more profitable today. I wish everyone would stop blaming labor cost and saying the industry is cyclical. If you manage and market your products towards what the consumers want, then there should never be a big drop in revenue. The population in this country is growing and people need cars. electrofomoco
What the consumers want at $1.50 a gallon is not what they want at $4.50. If markets could be perfectly predicted we wouldn't have recessions. Ask a few Nobel Economic Laureates how hard it is model the market. We will always have cycles in this industry. Hopefully, they are getting better at managing them but we will see. How are hybrids looking after years of growth?

That's my point, in the past they would've kept pumping out hybrids, like they did trucks and suvs, even though they weren't selling.
