Len_A Posted September 23, 2015 Author Share Posted September 23, 2015 I was at a family get-together, about ten years ago, where a dear friend of the family, a Franciscan priest, was attending. One of our family's more politically conservative, distant cousins, and as the black sheep of the family, also vehemently anti union, was railing against organized labor. Father walked up to him, and very quietly told him that with the Church's stand on economic justice and the rights of the worker to organize, that his anti union views, not to mention his belief in unfettered capitalism, were incompatible with Catholic teaching. My second cousin's face got red as hell, and he just unleashed a string of profanities at our priest friend, telling him who and what can f*** off, and we haven't seen him at a family gathering since. His wife and kids? Maybe twice in ten years. A few of my more politically conservative Catholic neighbors remind me of him. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
