Skilled Trades contract concerns

I believe there is one topic that needs to be brought up to the attention of the skilled trade group. Currently, there is wording in our contract that limits and protects us from outside contractors. This part of our contract needs to stay put and hopefully strengthened. Since this wording applies to a small group of members(skilled trades), and is basically under the radar because of the other major needs for all members, it could possibly become a bargaining chip for the IUAW. I am sure Ford would love to get rid of that language. They have been chipping away at it for the last few contracts. All of the trades people know how hard it is to keep work for us with that language in place. If it is bargained away, tradesmen and the apprenticeship program would take a huge hit.

There was a time when trades could turn down a contract. Without the help of production. If trades turned it down, even though production did not, the contract failed. Now, we have no say. Auto companies can give production "a little more" and take from trades. Many of the plants now have a "rolodex" full of outside contractors waiting to come in and do our jobs.............. That "fully utilized" at 40 hours is bullshit, and that needs to be addressed.

Here in Lima engine plant we have contractors everywhere actually since Hinkydink got elected we have lost over 40 Skilled Trades jobs. He has actually negotiated to have only Electricians, Machine Repair and Millwrights in the Maintenance work groups. hinkystink loves Millwrights the most! All other trades have been pushed to work in central on a as needed basis. So unless you're a Electrician, Millwright or Machine Repair don't try to transfer here you won't get any overtime and Hinkydink negotiated us into 4 crew. By the way only his millwright buddies are in elected positions on the Bargaining Committee and he only uses his Machine repair buddy that lost his run for Skilled Trades Bargaining Rep last election as a replacement when one of the millwrights are off. Management lets him do whatever he wants which is get rid of welders and other trades and send them to production. Hopefully the IUAW will bring him to Detroit with them soon we can't take much more losing machining lines and skilled trade jobs.

You would lose that bet AND you help prove my point.See,being around hateful,spiteful,low-class people like YOU littlecountry is torture after 8 hours which by the way was a hard fought for union gain years ago.

So you do complain working your days off?

Don't work your days off then, but you can't turn that double time down, you complain then you head off to work your day off, stop whining!
