dartanian
Aloha. I have a chance to procure a low mileage 2011 Gen 1 Transit Connect EV. I understand that Azure Dynamics went under so no need to pass that info along. Also Hawaii is perfect for EVs and my electricity is free because I have a PV system so no need to try and convince me they're not worth it. So, on to my question. In the event I obtain this rare bird, what is the original warranty on these and the status of getting Ford to service it or offer replacement parts. For example all batteries eventually need replacing. Is it all a pipe dream thinking that service or parts might be available down the road? fordtech1
It would have to be cheap. To my knowledge parts are very hard to get.
YT90SC
There are some technicians that I know that have some. They usually buy 2 or 3 vans to keep one running. There is almost no Ford support. There are almost no parts. Enter at your own risk.
dartanian
I have msgs in to the Johnson Controls company who supplied the batteries to Azure Dynamics to see what I can learn. I will also call Ford today but I'm suspecting they will want to pass the buck and claim it was an AZD product and not a Ford product. The original mfg window sticker says Ford but I have also seen them that say AZD so this could get real interesting. Does anyone know the original warranty terms, like is it 5 years or 50k miles on the drivetrain for example, like the gas powered models? Also, doesn't the DOT or FTC require that any vehicle manufacturer that goes out of business must make replacement parts available for a ten year period? dartanian
Well, as expected, Ford pretty much is weaseling out of taking any responsibility and directed me to these guys: http://www.cci-companies.com
