Ford critic Donald Trump is investor in automaker

Recommended Posts

So Donald Trump slams Ford for manufacturing vehicles in Mexico but owns stock? Sounds a bit hypocritical to me.

Whether you agree or disagree about production coming from Mexico the same argument could be made from all the other companies who import their product from other manufacturing hubs in the automotive world. Think Mexico is #6 on the list?

Hypocrisy defines Donald Trump. His recent statement about Ford is political posturing, nothing more and nothing less. As the Detroit News article mentioned, existing U.S. tax laws and trade agreements such as NAFTA guarantee that Trump's "Ford Plan" will never come to fruition. Additionally, Mexico is the best place in North America - perhaps even the world - to manufacture motor vehicles and motor vehicle parts, and not just for Ford. None of Trump's exhortations as he campaigns for U.S. President will change that fact.

Now if Trump is genuinely serious about implementing an indefinite moratorium on legal immigration to the USA, in addition to swift arrest and eventual deportation of illegal aliens currently present here, that would go a long way toward demonstrating he's not a hypocrite.

Everything he says is posturing and he's quite adept at manipulating the media.

Why people think he'd make a good elected official in any capacity is beyond me.

He can't do any worse than the career politicians already in Washington.

Both true statements. Just because he is better doesn't mean he is good. Heck, a kick in the shins is better than a kick in the teeth, but it isn't exactly something I enjoy.

Exactly - the only candidate I see right now that I would even consider voting for is Rand Paul, and I don't agree with all of his stances. But at least he actually wants smaller government and less spending and has backed that up in the Senate so far. Compared to the so-called Republicans who say they want smaller government but don't actually do anything about it.

It's because he takes everything personal and reacts in a knee jerk fashion

Look back at the events leading up to him calling John McCain not a war hero. You will see what I mean.

Trump is the very definition of a hypocrite.

I wonder how he would respond to a President telling him that he can't import his clothing line from Mexico or China?

Is it just me or has everyone turned into either an ultra liberal or ultra conservative? Each side has labeled the other side as a stereotypical caricature.

I'm fiscally and politically conservative but I'm socially liberal.

I see both sides of the abortion argument, but it has no place in a presidential campaign. Neither does gay marriage or legalizing marijuana. It overshadows the real issues - terrorism, the deficit, immigration, the economy, liars and overstepping authority (both sides).

I guess I'm going libertarian.

I agree. Couldn't have said it better myself.

I didn't really start following politics until around 2007. My opinion is most of the animosity started when the Democrats rammed the ACA through Congress without letting anybody read the bill. After that, the Republicans took every opportunity to block anything and everything the president wanted to do. Now that the Republicans control Congress, the president is threatening veto to anything the Republicans want to do.

Time for a third party, and get rid of career politicians. Thier only job is to get reelected.

This is why I think we should eliminate primaries - all they do is perpetuate the 2 party system and prevent independents or other parties from having a realistic chance at election.

Open the election to all candidates in one at large election. Take the top 3 and have a runoff, regardless of their party. If one party wants to get together and only offer up one candidate that's up to them but we all know that won't happen.

I equate it to a college football rivalry. Each team is more concerned about beating the other team than actually running the country. And each team hates everything the other team does - there is no room for compromise.

So move it all down there. No unions and costs will be cut by a third. Of course many here will be unemployed.

Im waiting for the backlash....just a matter of time before white, hetrosexual, non immigrant, Christians become 'a special interest group" and start ramming THEIR agenda down peoples throats and get catered too in the form of lightly veiled apologetic hand-outs......

Next thing you know they'll be trying to make gay marriage illegal.

In many parts of the USA, that segment of the population is already a minority and by extension a "special interest group". Whether or not Donald Trump can garner their votes is another issue, though.
