chassisgroupleader
Heard today The Explorer is supposed to go to Michigan Assembly Plant in 2018 and Chicago will not get any more Products. Anybody else hear anything? How many people are allowed to follow a Product to another Plant? What options do we have once a Plant is scheduled to close? I know this is just a rumor, but would still like to know my options, instead of being caught off guard.

Be prepared to retire from this finely tuned and professionally managed organization you call home. Sales = Work --- No Sales = Lay Off`s... these the only two facts in this business. All the drama is just fringe benefits...... Just another lie, chassisgroupleader. chassisgroupleader
Decker, you are saying the Ford Explorer won't be moved to a another Plant?
beenaround
I heard the Explorer was to be moved to KTP to run with the Expedition and Navigator when they go to aluminum like the Super Duties!
Decker
What I'm saying is sales is the dominating factor of all that goes on at Ford Motor Company. As far as moving a product in or out of a facility once again that decision isn't made on the level of intellectual disabilities that we have here in Chicago. This diability will not play in the decision to move any actual products until one and only one thing is a major deciding factor, that is sales. As long as sales continue at the current level, chassisgroupleader not only will you see products stay at CAP but, you will see the intellectually disabiled rewarded on a regular basis. For example the promotions given out like candy to kids at a carnival, to the management team members. The ending of production of the MKS is completely governed by what? Sales and the need to do what? Raise the production capacity of a high sales unit. There will not be gaps in the line. We will not see the line rate reduced. We won't see any reduction in force. Until what? A reduction in sales....That my sister or brother is the only deciding factor in our business.Memory, the lack of and or selective memory is a true sign of the intellectually disabled here at CAP. How many times was it stated and posted about what the 2016 Taurus (258 D platform) future was? Dropped from production? Changing platforms? Going to Flat Rock? Just to mention a few theories. But when the 2016 TT build started right here... what happened? You guessed it...? No one remembers the theories. Instead the intellectually challenged moved to a new theory. A good question would be, how many times do the intellectually challenged have to go through these theories before realizing "sheep shit is sheep shit" and they don't want to buy in to the sheep shit?To try and answer your question chassisgroupleader, all I can say with any certainty is we are greasing up to produce the 2016MY with all 5 models we currently produce. The 2017MY is scheduled to produce all but one of the current models. Which will be a total of 4. Yes the MKS will go the way of the Starski & Hutch Grand Torino. At present there is preparation for 4 - 2017 models being produced here in paradise. As for 2018??? We will be down for approximately 9 weeks. This do to re tooling for our new products.CAP will be producing the all new "sheep manure spreading implements" that will be available as an option with the F250 Inter Urban Farming Option.....Decker1 of the 1788 Edited July 22, 2015 by Decker
littlecountry
I heard the Explorer was to be moved to KTP to run with the Expedition and Navigator when they go to aluminum like the Super Duties! Explorer is no longer on a frame , the Expedition and Nav are on a frame, therefore I don't see how they could run down the same line, so I'd say KTP is not getting the explorer!
Fatso
Decker is right. It is all about sales.Ford will not interrupt a profitable vehicle just to move it to another plant unless maybe its Mexico or Vietnam!Face it guys we are all expendable and all inter-changeable cogs in a machine.Ford does not want to give up concessions and I see all these rumors as scare tactics to divide us.Lets just strike and get it over with!

Many plants have ran frame and unibody vehicles down the same line. St. Louis, Wixom, etc....
fuzzymoomoo
Even so, I highly, HIGHLY doubt that the Explorer is moving to KTP

deflep1
Over 30 years ago STAP ran Focus and Crown Vic down one line at same time The Focus has only been around for half that time. Perhaps you're thinking of a different car?

deflep1
Right, was the Escort. Brain cramp No problem. Lots of people called the Focus an Escort when it was introduced. We Ford people knew the difference, but at least they knew it was a Ford compact car. I still see Escorts on the road, it's good to see them still running! We don't build escorts anymore so it's not good to see them still running, it's good to see new model cars on the road that means we have a job, old escorts don't pay out bills. Xbar
My first new car I bought was an "87" Escort. Put 150,000mi on that puppy. Sold it to a friend and he put 25,000 more on it. I managed to squeeze 47mpg out of it just one time. The rest of the time it got 43/45 in the summer. Why can't they make them like that now? And don't give me that "emissions standards" BS. That was an old school CFI. Now they got turbo, DI, variable cam timing and more plastic body parts than ever.
