damagedone37
Anyone else hear this?12-18 month retool at MAP. Eliminating C Crew at DTP and running 2 crews 4/10s at DTP and MAP. I know it's contract season and rumors are wild, but this seems logical. Who knows. Not worried about my seniority either.
fuzzymoomoo
I haven't heard this, and I wasn't going to give it the time of day because it sounded so ridiculous, but the more I think about it the more it makes sense Ford is rumored to be working on a Hybrid F-150 and the timeline of the Focus being shipped to Mexico fits right along with when this rumored Hybrid F-150 is supposedly being launched. Where better to build it than MAP? The hybrid tooling is already there, so they won't need to shut down DTP for an extended period of time for that, plus they don't have to limit production on the normal drivetrain versions coming out of DTP. The only part that doesn't make sense to me is dumping DTP's C-crew. They will still need it for the regular drivetrain F-150s.
MTPwife
There is a article floating around from Reuters that says that there will be a dedicated series of Hybrid vehicles to compete with the Prius built there. I can't get the damn link to post to the article but if you google" Ford plans new hybrid series to compete with Toyota Prius", it will bring up the Reuters article. There's that too, I forgot about that. It was posted in another thread (it's from about a year ago if it's the one I'm thinking of). I don't think anyone needs to worry about a lack of work at MAP any time soon. Just don't expect 3 shifts there again for a long time, if ever. littlecountry
DTP is not getting rid of 3 crews, 3 crews is the ford way now as long as the product is selling

We can't do them here at DTP no space. Also totally know three crew is here to stay, however like I said it's a rumor floating around and logistically it makes sense. Try this: http://www.reuters.com/article/2014/08/20/us-autos-ford-hybrid-exclusive-idUSKBN0GK28K20140820 This article is about a year old and according to it, this gas/electric hybrid would only be about 120,000 units a year- and those numbers may be considered aggressive now given the lower gas prices. Footballfan
IMHO, I do not see F-150 being added to MAP. However, it was said in 2011 when the new Focus came out that MAP could go back to building large SUVs like the Expedition and Navigator should the need arise. A plausible scenario would be converting MAP to Expy/Navi production If Ford truly wants to make those two vehicles legitimate players in the full-size SUV market again (250,00+ sales a year). Fatso
I don't think there are enough F-150 sales to justify adding production capacity at MAP.You all know that there is more money made in the aftermarket than there is the original sale of a vehicle? So don't buy the bull-crap that Ford don't make enough money selling fuel efficient small cars to justify a US assembly plant.S-T-R-I-K-E is our weapon!
