Ryan Crooker
I just replaced my tie-rod ends on my 2011 F-150 Lariet, once I was complete, I backed it off the lift, and the message "power steering assist fault" appeared on the message board on the dash. Is there an in-expensive way of re-setting the system? I disconnected the battery, left it over night, but nothing changed.
fordtech1
Did you disconnect any connectors when servicing? Ford sent a ssm about disconnecting the battery before using any impact or dead blow hammers on rack components. It can cause internal arching and damage. Probably will have to scan it and see what codes are stored. Check connectors at rack and battery cable as it comes off positive post and powers rack. Also, there is a black 4 or 6 pin inline connector next to battery that is the network wiring to rack. Check it.
