blwnsmoke
Confused on if you were posting because you thought this was new news or posting just for the article. Sync 3 has always been reported to be Blackberry QNX based.. if it was the latter, then ignore my post lol. SoonerLS
Given that the article is dated today, I'd say it's a pretty safe bet that he was just posting the link to the article.
twintornados
New article for review, but I must've missed the previous announcement that SYNC 3 was QNX based....I guess I got a little carried away with the extra exclamation marks...lol. Anyway....enjoy.

twintornados
From Feb 2014... http://www.blueovalforums.com/forums/index.php?/topic/55874-ford-ditching-microsoft-for-blackberry/?hl=blackberry yes...I remember the thread, but it started with "rumored to use ONX". Honestly, I don't keep up with the "techy-techy" part of the auto biz and I have had zero complaints about the MyLincoln Touch in my MKX...but as a shareholder of Blackberry...the article does interest me....curiously, would my system be able to be re-configured to run this system or would the entire hardware portion of my system need to be replaced to support and run SYNC 3? akirby
New hardware. It could be swapped out ( a Ford engineer put it in a Taurus ) but that's super expensive. Rumor is a new version will run on MFT hardware without the new hardware features. (Pinch to zoom eg ).
danglin
From what I have seen, it will certainly perform faster and slicker than MFT. (Though I have no real complaints with MFT in my SuperDuty). I will say though, that the graphics are generic to me. (I have not mentioned this before, but I think the analog gauges in the new models lack imagination also) Edited July 4, 2015 by danglin
Moosetang
Not to take anything away from the new QNX software, but honestly the quality of the new hardware is what I want to hear more about. The MFT-era screens started as merely acceptable and never really improved, while the processing power always seemed a bit on the thin side. I want to hear that the new screens look and feel modern when the reviews start rolling in.
ANTAUS
On that pic, do you see vents right above the A/C controls, like facing down?
blazerdude20
On that pic, do you see vents right above the A/C controls, like facing down? Yes. There are small vents that face down towards the center console. The current escape has these as well.
silvrsvt
Has Ford ever explained why it went to a light color UI vs the dark color UI on the older gen MFT? I don't really care for it, since it clashes with the rest of the interior.

rmc523
I'm sure it becomes black/gray at night.
RichardJensen
LED screens, at least in the past, provided better contrast under daylight when the background was lit with a color than when it was black. An app I wrote that's used on dealership lots was white on a blue (0000FF) background because it works better than white on black. http://www.displaymate.com/Tablet_Brightness_ShootOut_1.htm
blazerdude20
I'm sure it becomes black/gray at night. Come to think of it that's how fords navigation system (09-11?) prior to MFT was. Gray and white during the day and black and gray at night.

Anthony
I'm partial to a dark background (somewhere between #333333 and #3D3D3D) with light text, but not quite white (somewhere between #F5F5F5 and #EFEFEF) Anything that has a night mode I instinctively switch it on (whether it's an app on my phone or when I'm coding in Sublime / Text Wrangler). Dark on white just kills my eyes. However in a car with bright sunlight, high contrast with lights and darks (reversed at night) probably works quite well.
