Consumers Report Claims Ford Focus is sourced in Mexico?

Recommended Posts

Yeah..... I don't believe the focus was ever built in Mexico. CR has zero credibility in my eyes anyway.

Sure it was. It was built in Hermosillo starting in 2000 but moved to MAP to make room for Fusion/Milan/Zephyr in 2005.

Well then... Don't I look silly!

I always thought the focus was originally imported from Europe.

It should have been. But the original N.A. Focus was a different vehicle from the European Focus. The 2012 was the first time for a global Focus platform.

The original focus was a Global product, same basic car in the EU the US. Minus bumper and minor changes to the due to US regulations.

Wow! I'm glad the Edge is assembled in Canada. That is the next vehicle we have in need of upgrading. Would not purchase if made in the US being a Canadian citizen. Not sure what to do when upgrading our half ton. Guess will just have to do without as non assembled in Canada haha.

Why didn't you realise that Canada and Mexico are the 51st and 52nd states...

WGN Radio in Chicago has had ads for years about how the Silverados V8 gets better fuel economy than the Ecoboost V6. They only mention Ecoboost once then say "That's right Chevys V8 gets better fuel economy than Ford's V6" as if it's just the regular V6 (it's also untrue since the 2.7EB).

Lately they've been calling it Chevys Ecoboost V8 and Fords Ecotec V6... Can't even bother to get the names right!

Partially due to the government EPA website not distinguishing the Ecoboost V6 from the regular 3.5 V6,

I found it confusing as you don't know at first whether the figures are EB 3.5 or NA 3.5
