I thought it was a Michigan origin. Any thoughts?
fuzzymoomoo
Yeah..... I don't believe the focus was ever built in Mexico. CR has zero credibility in my eyes anyway.
akirby
Yeah..... I don't believe the focus was ever built in Mexico. CR has zero credibility in my eyes anyway. Sure it was. It was built in Hermosillo starting in 2000 but moved to MAP to make room for Fusion/Milan/Zephyr in 2005.
akirby
I think it was just a typo and they meant Fusion.
Pioneer
Yeah..... I don't believe the focus was ever built in Mexico. CR has zero credibility in my eyes anyway. The Focus, including all wagons, 3 door, and SVT, were built in Hermosillo before the plant was retooled for the Fusion.
fuzzymoomoo
Well then... Don't I look silly! I always thought the focus was originally imported from Europe.
Havelock
The sedan was built in Michigan while the other models were built in Mexico like Pioneer stated.
akirby
Well then... Don't I look silly! I always thought the focus was originally imported from Europe. It should have been. But the original N.A. Focus was a different vehicle from the European Focus. The 2012 was the first time for a global Focus platform.
Biker16
It should have been. But the original N.A. Focus was a different vehicle from the European Focus. The 2012 was the first time for a global Focus platform. The original focus was a Global product, same basic car in the EU the US. Minus bumper and minor changes to the due to US regulations. When did the platforms diverge? With the 2004 MK II model in Europe?
PREMiERdrum
When did the platforms diverge? With the 2004 MK II model in Europe? Correct. MK I soldiered on in the US through both the 2005 and 2008MY updates.
fuzzymoomoo
Correct. MK I soldiered on in the US through both the 2005 and 2008MY updates. 2008 was the same only from the suspension down though. The top hat was all-new.
RichardJensen
I think it was just a typo and they meant Fusion. Except you can buy US sourced Fusions, so even that's not exactly correct.
akirby
Except you can buy US sourced Fusions, so even that's not exactly correct. No, but closer than Focus.

RichardJensen
For tossed off blog entries? No--and it's an open question if they ever did.

T-bird
Wow! I'm glad the Edge is assembled in Canada. That is the next vehicle we have in need of upgrading. Would not purchase if made in the US being a Canadian citizen. Not sure what to do when upgrading our half ton. Guess will just have to do without as non assembled in Canada haha. sullynd
WGN Radio in Chicago has had ads for years about how the Silverados V8 gets better fuel economy than the Ecoboost V6. They only mention Ecoboost once then say "That's right Chevys V8 gets better fuel economy than Ford's V6" as if it's just the regular V6 (it's also untrue since the 2.7EB). Lately they've been calling it Chevys Ecoboost V8 and Fords Ecotec V6... Can't even bother to get the names right!

Partially due to the government EPA website not distinguishing the Ecoboost V6 from the regular 3.5 V6, I found it confusing as you don't know at first whether the figures are EB 3.5 or NA 3.
