Proximity Key

I haven't got to test drive a 2015 Expy yet. Could someone please tell me how you unlock/lock the car from the outside with the proximity key? Did Ford half a$$ it and make it so you have to hit the unlock/lock button on the fob? Do you have to use the keypad on driver's side?

On my SHO, I just put my hand on the door handle it and it unlocks. If I want to lock, I touch a small area on the driver/passenger door handle with my finger and it locks the car.

I read an online review where the guy was complaining about it, had to use keypad. So you can't lock/unlock car from passenger side?

Yes, they kinda half a$$ed it. You have to touch the keypad. I suspect the upgrading of door handles, similar to your SHO and my wife's Explorer, wasn't in scope for the MCE. Even so, this is a nice vehicle. I have a Platinum with 22" wheels and auto suspension. I traded a 2010 limited. Never thought I would like a V6 over a V8, but the performance is amazing.

Yes, I love the EB in my SHO. A tune for the Expy from Livernois is making over 70whp/70wtw more! Should be almost a 13 second truck in the 1/4. I put a tune on my SHO and it pulls so much better. It's a high 12 second car. Ford left a lot on the table with their factory tune.

I just wish they did more changes like they did for the 2013 Taurus refresh. The 2010-2012 Taurus had the same wimpy proximity key functions, no heated steering wheel, and no LED tails. Shouldn't have taken Ford much to do the same updates to the Expedition. Oh well. I still like it, just torn between it and a Yukon.

I was almost set on spending a few more for the Navigator. Then realized you can't get an integrated trailer brake controller in it, WTF Lincoln??

Touching the keypad to unlock is a real hassle, especially when approaching the tailgate to put stuff in. You either have to pull the fob out or walk to driver's side to unlock. Poor, lazy design. But I still love my 15 Expy.

It would have if they had known they were keeping the Expedition a couple of years ago, but that wasn't decided until recently and this refresh was already "in the can" as they say. The all new 2017 would definitely have the fully functional amenities.
