mreed112
Surprised to see a limited slip axle now available. It is too late for me as I received my ordered King Ranch last month. I did get the optional 3.73 axle on my reg WB 4x4. How much difference would a limited slip make over the brake controlled Advanced Trac / Traction control system with a non-limited slip? 1999 White C5 Coupe
Thank you for the update. I ordered a new 2015 Ford Expedition Limited 4x4 in February 2015, and puchased it at the end of March when it arrived. When I placed the order, I was surprised that a limited-slip rear differential was not available. I wanted to get it but could not. I also wanted to order daytime running lights but was told that it was only available on the fleet orders. Does anyone know why Ford did not offer a limited-slip rear differential on the 2015 Expedtion until now (almost the end of the model year) and daytime running lights for retail customers? akirby
Should work just as well for sending power from a spinning wheel to the other wheel.
ajvolpe
Maybe they just had a lot of limited slip rears in inventory or not being used in pickups.
mreed112
Maybe they just had a lot of limited slip rears in inventory or not being used in pickups. Modern auto companies have very little in inventory. Everything is delivered "just in time" to the assembly plant. I believe that the the real reason for offering limited slip is a competitive response to the Tahoe which features it as standard. My question remains as to why I would need extra parts inside the differential to do what the traction control does very effectively with the brakes. I believe this is why Ford has not offered limited sips for the past 10 years that Advanced Trac / Traction control has been standard. akirby
Brake based traction control is very effective at not letting you get stuck with one wheel slipping. This was made possible by multi-channel ABS enabling the computer to brake one wheel on each axle at a time. If the multi-channel ABS is already there then TC is just some software. But it won't shift power to both wheels under hard acceleration, which isn't a problem for the vast majority of owners.
mreed112
Has anyone seen the 2016 Expedition order guide? I would be interested to see what changed. They should be out as the plant is taking 2016 orders.
ice-capades
The 2016 Expedition Order Guide should be available soon as the USOB (Unscheduled Order Bank) opens on Monday 05/11/2015.

mreed112
Thanks, Ice-capades. Looks like there won't be much change for 2016 other than Snyc 3. My guess is that 2017 will also be a quiet year for Expedition with the big change coming for 2018.
PokerMunkee
Dangit, still no HIDs, heated steering wheel and only driver one touch auto window. Really want an Expy but just lacking a few key features a $63K rig should have. Anyone towed with one yet? How does the auto level suspension work? anjen
2018 for the remake, I posted on another thread and the consensus seems to point to July 2017 for a fully redesigned model. Any more insight from anybody?
fuzzymoomoo
Highly doubt at this point you will get any concrete insight from anyone at this point. Anything you hear is pure speculation. History dictates the speculation is probably not too far off
