It was fun unsure if its a total write off

Well I'm hoping so the resale value's going to be complete sh*t now thanks to OTHER drivers.

I was going northbound on Avenue Rd in the leftmost land and there is a hotel on the far left side on the otherside of the southbound traffic. Taxi decides to gun it inbween cars going southbound into the nortbound lanes without looking.

Doesn't even do the whole poke out thing nope just hits the gas and goes into my lane and it all happened in an instant. Once I saw him brakes did nothing.

I doubt its going to be a write off but I can stay hopeful. I know there's going to be tens of issues with it even if they don't write it off and I don't want the hasle and have to pay $$$, time off etc.

So far looked at:
- Q50 Fully Loaded: I don't need a 3.7L engine and the car struggled to get up hills, its just so heavy.

- BMW 435i: Wow is the interior in BMW's ugly. Holy crap! Has all the bells and whistles I'm looking for but can't get over how ugly inside they are.

- Fusion 2015/2016: Would have to be fully loaded and would probably go Energi this time. Miss the black metalic pain tho not sure about it now.
- Mercedes Benz C300: In Canada you can't get the Intelligent Driver Package without moving up to the 6 cylinder 3.0L. I know USA is better than Canada. I have no interest in a larger engine.
- Lexus: So ugly on the outside, but nice on the inside.
- Acura, good all around but again the same problem to get the Adaptive Cruise -> gotta move up to a 6 cylinder for some reason...

Hey man, it's machoman1337 your fellow Canuck here from the Hybrid forum. I remember seeing your car personally IRL when I was still a student in downtown TO and noticing how awesome your license plate was when you were driving on College St.

Yeah, Toronto taxi drivers are total savages at times... doesn't help that many of them emigrate from countries where traffic "laws" are the exception rather than the norm. Most TO drivers (to me) are relatively polite, better than their Vancouver counterparts, but cab and bus drivers ruin everything!

Real sorry to see what happened to your car. On the plus side, you did post a lot about problems you had with the car (you ordered one of the earliest models to roll off the line!), and since your insurance reimbursed you, you can get a newer car that lacks all those issues! You probably learned a lesson my dad learned 15 years ago - never buy ANY brand new car that's in the first batch of production. Give it at least half a year for issues to get corrected before more cars roll off the assembly line.

My Fusion was bought preowned but wasn't built quite as early as the one you lost, and it's been problem-free so far. That means that if you buy a new '15/'16 FFH or even a used '14, you should have a lot of peace of mind when it comes to reliability as most of the early kinks were ironed out.

If you really like the Tuxedo black colour, consider a certified pre-owned 2014 FFH maybe? I looked on autotrader and Markville Ford (where I bought my own FFH!) is selling this: http://wwwa.autotrader.ca/a/Ford/Fusion/Unionville/Ontario/5_23638207_ON20080123130132070/?showcpo=ShowCPO&orup=6_15_7

As for Lexus being ugly... the ES300h isn't nice? C'mon :P

P.S. are you keeping the license plate?

Surprisingly 911 assist was on and it did not work. Maybe my intervention of opening the door or calling myself (but that wasn't for 2 mins later).

It did honk the horn every minute or so and the blinkers were flashing which was nice.

Bought a 2015 energi fully loaded - everything even the block heater on a plugin hybrid car ;)

You know I wished for no problems but... They're waiting on a transmission fluid hose :waiting:

Congrats on getting an awesome replacement. I guess you're ok with the severely compromised trunk? I'd love an Energi but the only way I'd buy one would be if Ford made a wagon version (they have the Mondeo Estate in Europe but it has no hybrid or energi variant sadly).

If you turned off the car before opening the door, the MFT system would shut itself off, so I'm guessing that's why the 911 assist did not work.
