concourspilot
Has anyone toured the plant? Is it possible? Wouldn't it be awesome to tour the plant the day your truck rolls down the line.
fuzzymoomoo
The only Ford plant that has public tours that I'm aware of is Dearborn Truck via The Henry Ford Museum.
concourspilot
Thats a shame there are no tours. Anyone know if it's possible to get a photo of your truck as it's on the line?
fuzzymoomoo
Your best shot of that is knowing someone who works on the line, though I can tell you from personal experience looking for a friend's car on the line, I ended up missing it because it's just too hard to read every vin # coming down the line. Once it is scheduled, if you know the VIN, you can find the rotation number and it is easy to find in system. Off line before shipping it is harder to find. Your boss's computer can pin point the unit in system. Unless things have changed since I retired, pictures can get you fired.
fuzzymoomoo
Yes, they still really don't like pictures being taken, but with smartphones these days, you can sneak them in every now and then when the boss has his back turned.

My dad and I followed his F-150 from body decker till it rolled off the line. We took pictures the whole time and only one person said anything to us. When he identified himself as a retiring LL5, they told us only to take pictures of the truck and left us alone. He even got to drive it off the end of the line. Good times.
