mnm
They throw that out there because when they agree not to implement the 3rd tier if we keep the second tier, the UAW will tell us that they achieved a victory.

Fatso
See the SHOW! Company says that want a 3rd tier Union Boss says NO! see he is already getting ya something! Wonder if Ford was able to through out the entire UAW overhead and just deal with the employees directly, professionally and fairly how much $$$$ they could save? But then BILLY 3 FINGERS couldn't get his friends deals like "no show" jobs!

They'd save a bunch of money because they would be paying you, and everyone else, $15/hr with no insurance. Do you think they pay you $30/hr out of the kindness of their heart? Before you reply do a job search for manufacturing positions online and report back the average starting wage.

chassisgroupleader
We already have a 3rd Tier in chicago, it's called Voith! Not much we can do otherwise they'll close the Plant and move to Mexico!

You should really come up with something a little better than that Well.... chassisgroupleader you are completely correct. Maybe a different company but... the same union. Fuzzy if the average UAW member realized that our UAW negotiated the tier 3 wages our sisters and brothers earn at Voith (or whatever company there owned by now) receive then the truth would be out that the UAW regional negotiator has already put into place the third tier scale. trailfndr
We already have 3 tiers, and no one seems to realize it. We have tier One (Legacy) We have tier two ( Entry) and we have tier Three (New Traditional) 1 and 3 may make the same PAY, but are far different in Benefits. When the IUAW decides to say ENOUGH, and accept nothing less than the elimination of ALL tiers, I might vote yes on a contract. Until that happens...I am a definite NO vote. Its not all about the hourly;y rate. its about equal pay for equal work. Its about Solidarity in the workplace, and its about just plain the RIGHT thing to do! chassisgroupleader
. This. This should be the mindset right here. You can make yourself believe whatever you want Fuzzy, but fact remains that Voith is doing jobs that Ford Motor company UAW members used to do.
Decker
Voith has a totally different contract than what production has, it's not an apples to apples comparison UAW negotiations is or are UAW negotiations..... The UAW let those jobs (clean up) that UAW members did for a long time turn into the degrading rate of pay that the UAW members do everyday. Who negotiated this rate of pay? Our regional UAW rep.... that previously negotiated the higher rate of pay for the same type of labor that is now a rate of pay they keep quiet because its that bad. And they are UAW members, the loser is us the employee, the UAW is getting there dues , that's all the UAW seems to care about these days is the number of members and how can they squeeze money from the ones they represent! Sounds like the UAW has become a business rather than an organization

Voith is a separate company therefore you can not compare them as a 3rd tier. Ford use to make their own seats , do you consider that supplier as another tier. The list of parts or jobs that Ford employees use to build or do can go on and on! A tier wage can only be considered if you are a ford employee receiving a check from Ford. nmsford
Parts/plants that Ford has outsourced/shut down would not be considered tier 3 in my opinion. But jobs such as cleaners and people who certify parts inside Ford plants I would consider 3rd tier workers. Especially since those jobs used to be Our jobs that Ford outsourced and UAW didn't seem to put up much of a fight.
