Ahmed Aly
Hello everyone, Just got the good news that I have passed all pre- employment testings for the Entry level assembly line at the Ford Pilot power plant in Allen Park ,Michigan.... Well the question is that what is the hourly pay rate for the entry level assembly line workers?......I got two answers for this question, the first one was $17.75/hr and that was before I started the tests ...After I successfully passed all tests I got a phone call from the Plant HR representative saying the my pay will be $15.78/Hr....I asked him why is the difference between the two numbers and he replied that every plant has it's own pay rate ...Is that right??? Please advice!!

nmsford
Your starting pay will be closer to $15.78/hr. Different plant do have some difference in pay scales but it only varies $.25-$.50 cents an/hr. Who ever told you that you would start at $17.75/hr was wrong. focusfrank
And you don't get dental coverage for 5 yrs, optical you get after 3 years, your not allowed to transfer to another plant and the BIG ONE, NO RECALL RIGHTS.. What that means is if your ever laid off (not talking about during a scheduled plant shutdown) they don't have to call you back. They can hire someone else off the street instead of calling you back to work.. WELCOME TO THE NEW UAW...

trailfndr
First off, Congrats and welcome to the Ford Family....Get a copy of the national and your local agreement and take the time to READ them. Ask questions if you don't understand parts of it. Many will be willing to help. And you DO have recall rights. If you are laid off from a plant, that plant CAN NOT hire off the street without calling you back. IF you are transferred (Forced) to another plant, then you DO NOT have recall rights to your home plant. As a full time employee, you can not be simply replaced by a new hire while you are laid off, unless you have already been moved to a different facility. People need to understand the language and perhaps actually READ it before posting bullshit on websites that simply is not true. littlecountry
Basically they are being represented by the UAW which means only rights you have are what the company says you have cause you only pay the UAW so they can use your dues to try to organize foreign plants not to help you out! We have no rights anymore unless you call " They can do that" a right

I've heard that statement so many times that I've been looking for it in the contract book just to see when it got passed. It wasn't there when I first started at Fords over 30 years ago.......... We have no rights anymore unless you call " They can do that" a right I agree littlecountry but they aren`t even doing a good job at organizing anything.... just spending dues. Just ask if anyone has heard anything from the IUAW about the latest plant closing, what will you get as an answer? yep noting... You would think that the region would publish something on the closing of the only foreign company the IUAW has ever got a vote to be apart of this organization we call a union, but not much in the way of communicating anything outside the plant. Yep another victory for the IUAW`s buy American campaign.... 1200 American`s out of a job at the only organized foreign owned plant in the USA. But wait.... maybe these American`s can joint the ranks of the second class working for Ford, Gm or Fiat? Mitsubishi, will close their plant in Illinois. Oh I think those other foreign owned plants will be running to get the IUAW to hold an organizing vote...now...another success....?
